In 1963, Fai is killed because he loved the same woman as his evil boss, Hung. Hung buries Fai in an unholy place that destines him to have bad luck for his next ten lifes to come. The young woman, Yung, who committed suicide after Fai was killed, has her soul caught in a lantern made of her skin by Hung. But her ghost escapes in 1993 and tries to find FaiÕs new incarnation...
This is a typically cheap and chaotic Hong Kong ghost movie, combining supernatural horror, drama, (stupid) comedy and action to a confusing genre mix. It also tries to re-create the atmosphere of the rarely seen 1982 Shaw Bros. horror classic "Human Skin Lanterns". Suk-Ching Yau (Chingmy Yau) ist wasted here, but director Wai-Keung Lau (Andrew Lau, also responsible for the crapfest "Raped by an Angel" the same year) went on to direct some decidedly better, big-budget genre films like "The Storm Riders" and "The WesleyÕs Mysterious File".
