Storyline

Wyoming, 1950. Indiana Jones and his friend Grey Cloud have obtained a sacred ceremonial pipe and end up in a slow-logged cabin. When Jones finds a soprano sax, he is reminded of his college days in Chicago 1920. Indy was waiting tables at Colosimo's and had become obsessed with Jazz music. He managed to befriend Sidney Bichet who encouraged him to practice the soprano sax. But then Colosimo was murdered on the doorstep of his restaurant and Indy got caught up in the investigation together with his roommate Eliot Ness and young reporter Ernest Hemingway. Good installment
5 January 2002 | by See all my reviews

The YOUNG INDIANA JONES saga has so many installments that just when I think that I have seen them all, another one comes out. Well, like I always do on Friday nights I was looking around at Blockbuster for something to watch over the weekend. I found this one in the back under new releases, which is odd since the box says the movie is from 1999. Anyway, I got home and popped this in my VCR. It started off like every other YOUNG INDIANA JONES flick, but as time went on the movie became very different from the other YOUNG INDIANA JONES movies. As always, there was lots of great action sequences, but there was also GOOD acting, more plot than there was in any of the previous YOUNG INDIANA JONES movies, a decent script, and a nice directive style. Normally, movies in the YOUNG INDIANA JONES series are just put together by non-stop action sequences, bad acting, little plot, a mediocre script, and bad direction, but this one was actually put together nicely. Sure, it won't be getting any awards anytime soon, but it makes a good direct-to-video popcorn flick. Guys will dig all the action and the fighting and women will most likely be to dazzled by Sean Patrick Flanery to notice anything else. Recommended. My Grade: B+ Star rating: ***
