A morning commute on a tram in Berlin will be the setting of racial abuse of a young black man by an elderly woman. Appearances aside, the woman launches an all-out attack on the poor guy, spewing hatred about stereotypes and the usual favourite topics: immigration, employment and overall white supremacy and privilege, to name a few. This scene of verbal violence which is taking place before an uninvolving and deafeningly silent group of commuters, highlights society's numbness, desensitisation and silent concurrence to all things violent. Did You Know?
This short film is inspired from a Norwegian commercial promoting the monthly ticket available from Oslo's public transport system written by Lasse Åberg
, a Swedish comedian. Åberg also got inspiration from the urban legend "The Eaten Ticket" that first appeared in Denmark in the 1980's and soon spread to neighboring countries. See more
