Points of Articulation: Sideshow Statue Roundup

3 November 2013 6:03 PM, PST | FamousMonsters of Filmland | See recent Famous Monsters of Filmland news »

I realize not every aspect of collecting is about figures with lots of cool articulation. There are those out there who like their statues, and in this day and age, like in the action figure market, there are some pretty amazing statues, or in this case, Premium Format figures out there.

Read on to check out a few of Sideshow Collectibles most recent pre-orders.

Hellboy Premium Format Figure

Commemorating 20 years of Hellboy’s capers, Sideshow Collectibles is proud to present the B.P.R.D.’s greatest paranormal investigator with the Mike Mignola Hellboy Premium Format(Tm) Figure.

Summoned in close collaboration with the famed creator, this original composition delightfully echoes Mignola’s familiar aesthetic and popular comic artwork with chiseled features, a high-contrast paint technique and recurring esoteric themes incorporated throughout.

Exclusive: Cast and Crew Talk Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2

3 October 2013 9:45 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

If you haven't inhaled Season 2 of Mortal Kombat: Legacy (review) yet - Shame! For those of you that have (okay, if you still haven't, you can look, too), we have a special treat...

I was given the chance to talk to creator/director Kevin Tancharoen as well as some select cast members, and what they had to say was both enlightening and inspiring.

DC: How did Mortal Kombat: Legacy go from short film to series?

Kevin Tancharoen (pictured above; director): It was kinda crazy how it just happened organically because a lot of people timed it out perfectly, but my short film (Mortal Kombat: Rebirth) went out two days before the launch trailer for Mk Viiii was to be released at E3, so all of a sudden, Mk was the thing to talk about in general and I couldn't believe the timing worked out so perfectly; if it had been any other time, »

by Matt Hawkins

With all the talk of the upcoming next gen consoles, including all the games that will come along for the ride, there's still one current gen release that everyone is aching for. And that game is Dark Souls 2.

And publisher Namco Bandai has just announced a special closed beta, arriving later this fall. Only the strong need apply we are told, though only those with PS3s should bother as well.

The press release also tells us that:

"The depth of the Dark Souls 1 Closed-Beta experience will truly test players’ skill, intestinal fortitude, and their sheer will to survive. The Dark Souls 2 Closed-Beta will delve into one of the most treacherous areas of the Dark Souls 2 world; players will not only get an opportunity to explore an entirely new area of the game, but also experience overwhelming enemy encounters, diabolical challenges, and the unrelenting difficultly that only »

Tmnt: Out Of The Shadows Supports Michelangelo’s Breakdance Fighting

23 April 2013 9:21 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Activision’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows has received a new trailer that highlights the skills and abilities of one of the most energetic of the turtle brethren, Michelangelo.

The gameplay video gives fans an early look at what to expect once they tie his infamous orange mask around their imaginary turtle skulls. Michelangelo’s fighting style exemplifies a higher level of grace as he effortlessly executes flare kicks that land with precision on an unfortunate enemy’s head. It’s clear that Mikey is going to be the fastest character as he implements an elaborate display of technical ability through his unique combat style.

Michelangelo’s fighting abilities reminds me of a mix between traditional Capoeira and breakdancing. Luckily, they seem to go hand-in-hand considering the musical rhythms underlying both of them.

Oh, you aren’t familiar with Capoeira? Then you should check out this »
