MTV Raps, which, as the title suggests, will take audiences on a trip down memory lane, looking at the popular series which ran from 1988 to 1995 with its original Yo! MTV Raps name, then later as simply Yo! until 1999. It was the first hip-hop music show on the network. Expected to be included in Yo: The Story of Yo! MTV Raps are interviews with the show's three hosts (Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Doctor Dre), as well as the myriad of guests who appeared on the series. And in anticipation of next week's broadcast, and I suppose to get excited for what's to come, VH1 has released a clip (courtesy of Billboard) from 1993, which features Tupac Shakur getting a bit worked up when host Ed Lover brings up the story of his quarrel with the »

What's it like being the voice of the hippo in the Madagascar films and the wife of Will Smith?
Hello! How's Cannes?
It's very busy and very beautiful. Oh my goodness. Usually when I have come it's rainy. The first time here I was 20, for Menace II Society. Oh boy, I didn't know anything then. My outfits were just … woah. (1)
Did you have to sleep on the floor?
No, fortunately not. It was a good time to just be naive and young and know absolutely nothing.

Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to replace Dominic Cooper in upcoming action movie Motor City.
The Mamma Mia! star was initially cast as the lead in the project, about a recently-released felon intent of bringing the men who framed him to justice, but he was forced to drop out due to scheduling difficulties.
Gyllenhaal is now slated to lead the film, which will also star Gary Oldman and Amber Heard.
Motor City will be directed by Albert Hughes, one half of the Hughes Brothers, who directed Menace II Society and The Book of Eli. It is scheduled for release in 2013. »

When I was a freshman in high school, I begged my parents to buy me N.W.A's "Straight Outta Compton." At the time, the only other rap album I owned was "I'm the D.J., He's the Rapper" by D.J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. The continuous loop of "Parents Just Don't Understand" that played in my bedroom was then replaced by "F-ck tha Police" (played very softly so my parents couldn't hear it, I should add). When Ice Cube was recording those lyrics, as we discuss, he was fairly certain that Midwestern suburban white kids would never get a chance to hear them.
Ice Cube co-stars in the Jonah Hill-Channing Tatum comedy, "21 Jump Street," as Captain Dickson -- a character that owns every stereotype of a fictional police captain, but also realizes that he owns those stereotypes. I chatted with a surprisingly poignant Ice Cube (surprising, »
