Storyline

Young Danny Madigan is a big fan of Jack Slater, a larger-than-life action hero played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. When his best friend, Nick the projectionist, gives him a magic ticket to the new Jack Slater film, Danny is transported into Slater's world, where the good guys always win. One of Slater's enemies, Benedict the hitman, gets hold of the ticket and ends up in Danny's world, where he realises that if he can kill Schwarzenegger, Slater will be no more. Slater and Danny must travel back and stop him. Written by Alexander Lum <aj_lum@postoffice.utas.edu.au>

Trivia

The film ran behind schedule, so much so there was just one test screening that ran for two hours and 20 minutes with a lot of inaudible dialogue, boring the audience. The studio refused to delay the opening, so not to send the message the film was in trouble; a decision Schwarzenegger agreed with. See more »

Goofs

When Danny is watching the movie and the ticket activates, Jack shoots the the dynamite which flies out of the screen and lands in the movie theatre, Danny runs towards the screen to take cover. Later, after Benedict leaves the movie, Jack and Danny follow him and land in the same movie theatre and there is no sign of the explosion that would have resulted from the dynamite. See more »

I've got my Ticket Now I'm Going To See The Movie!
22 June 2003 | by (Oregon USA) – See all my reviews

Last Action Hero may well have arrived DOA due to Dan Cortese's lame as could be tagline for Burger King " I got my ticket, now I'm Going To See The Movie!".

Aside from that unsuccesful cross promotion, there is little in this film that actually is not as it was intended to be. That is, funny, over the top and full of explosions! I am a fan of self depricating humor and a fan of Arnold, so this movie hit the spot for me.

The cast is all good too, with the obvious exception of the homely kid who plays opposite The Schwarz. Recomended for fans of TV action shows and for those who appreciate Arnold's experimental comedy films. I liked this well enough to take the time to recommend it, if that helps.

By the way, I didn't bother to summarize, because this not that kind of movie. Just watch it and you'll realize the reason people like it, and it has nothing to do with the plot.
