The success of "New Jack City" got writer Barry Michael Cooper's script for "Sugar Hill" attention in Hollywood. With Wesley Snipes already attached, it seemed like a home run, but none of the major studios were willing to touch the material due to its bleak nature. Oh. Now you want me to "finish him". Nah, man. I saved him for you, my brother. Roemello. So you can remember what the fuck this is all about. Where you come from, who you are, and what the fuck it is we do. You rock his cradle, Rome. 'Cause I'm done.

A superior Godfather part 3, this story touched me, just like the godfather trilogy it doesn't glorify the life unlike goodfellas makes it interesting, it isn't about masterminding a criminal plot, it looks at the people affected by it negatively, such as the brothers dad who was really a symbol of what the brothers had turned many people into, the little bits that tell us romello is disturbed by this is beautiful, reminds me of requiem for a dream, Romellos character is also one of the most interesting of the genre, a man who is still obviously a hardened gangsta yet still has a distinct human side as witnessed by his killing of one of his best friends murderers, where he states sincerely "im not like m brother" before delivering a fatal gunshot. As for the ending where Michael Wrights character enters the room with gus and the dealer, so troubled and proceeds to waste em both, in my opinion is one of the best scenes i have ever seen. i have only ever this movie once, yet it still strikes me as the best movie out of the 350 or so I've seen including many in the top 250 and i always name it as my favourite, please makers give it a region 2 release so i can once again live this film.
