Eddie Presley is the story of a former Elvis impersonator who had a backup band and was mildly successful. He is divorced and is not permitted to see his child. Eddie had some psychological problems in the past, but is now a mellow, sad, doormat who doesn't seem to ever defend his own honor and lets people put him down all the time. He is intelligent in a blue collar kind of way, but has reached the lowest point in his life. This film is well written by Duane Whitaker, and directed with such tenderness for the film and the character by Jeff Burr. This film had such a deep effect on me that I didn't stop thinking about it for hours after I watched it. I really felt that I could relate to this character and that he was very real and needed my help. Only a special film can bring out those emotions in a viewer and this film does just that. Full of great supporting actors and cameos from Roscoe Lee Browne, Lawrence Tierney, Quentin Tarantino, Bruce Campbell and Clu Culager. Worth owning in my book, DVD loaded with special features. A fine film vehicle for Whitaker which showed everyone how great he could act in the right role, which led to him being cast in Pulp Fiction.
