**SPOILER** Having nightmares of falling down an elevator shaft for weeks has caused fashion designer Lynn Matthews, Melissa Gilbert, to go on an extended vacation from her job in San Francisco. Lynn is worried that, after working non stop for almost two years without a day off, she suffering from burnout. It's when Lynn goes to get treated for her nightmares by psychiatrist Dr. James Portman, Jay Robinson, that she finds out, through regression therapy, that she's reliving something that happened to her in another lifetime back in March 1963: she was murdered by her then husband!
What strikes me a bit odd about the made for TV move "Dying to Remember" is how reincarnation is so easily accepted by everyone in the film even those, like Lynn, who never believed in that theory at all. Lynn balked when first told about being reincarnated and it would have taken almost the remainder of the film, with piles and piles of evidence, to convinced her that it in fact is real! Lynn for her part goes right to the city hall of records to check out every woman who was murdered or died in an accident in the year 1963 who's first name, the name that she heard in her nightmare, was Mary Ann. Lynn also scourers the city for an address that she also saw in her nightmare where Mary Ann was killed.
It later turns out that everything that Lynn believed about herself in her former lifetime, as Mary Ann Emerson(Kat Green), checked out down to the fact that she at the time was married to Mark Gage, Ted Shackelford. Gage is not only alive now but may well be the person who murdered her, as Mary Ann, back in 1963! Nothing really new here with Melissa Gilbert playing the damsel in distress in two different lifetimes, in 1963 and 1993. Lynn is perused by the same person or persons, who murdered her once and now, with her being able to implicate him in her previous murder,are determined to murder her again.
Watchable and some times even surprising, especially the ending, but nothing more then a B-movie with Miss. Gilbert as Lynn Matthews doing her best as the victim of one murder and the potential victim of another.
