Almost twenty years ago, Sandra Bullock brought an amusing kind of charm to her role as law enforcer Lenina Huxley in the futuristic action movie Demolition Man. She also brought humor to her role as FBI agent Gracie Hart in Miss Congeniality years later. From what's being reported, it looks like the Blind Side star will be back in a badge and teaming up with fellow funny lady Melissa McCarthy for a comedy written by Katie Dippold and directed by Bridesmaids' Paul Feig. Variety reported the news, stating that McCarthy and Bullock will star the yet-to-be-titled project, described as a buddy cop movie. Bullock will play a "high-strung FBI agent," who has a strained relationship with McCarthy's character, an "unconventional Boston cop," with whom she's tasked to work in an effort to take down a Russian gangster. From the sound of it, it took some work on the part »

The first trailer for the family drama Won’t Back Down (formerly Still I Rise) has gone online. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis star as two mothers from different backgrounds who join forces to take on the failing public school system. It’s a nice idea for a film (apparently based on true events), and the trailer has its moments, but I fear the full feature will be trite examination of a complex issue with a “nice” ending that wraps things up with a smile. The education system is in dire need of reform and taking a Blind Side approach to the issue is unworthy of the attention it deserves. That said, Gyllenhaal and Davis are fantastic actresses and Gyllenhaal has certainly been outspoken about social issues in the past, so hopefully Won’t Back Down tackles the issue with intellect and candidness and provides/stirs some thoughtful discussion on the topic. »

One of the most intriguing movies of 2012 is now one of the most intriguing movies of 2013. Gravity, the 3-D sci-fi drama starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts stranded in open space, has been pushed from its Nov. 21 release to 2013 by Warner Bros., EW has confirmed.
The studio remains bullish on the movie, director Alfonso Cuarón’s first film since his highly acclaimed 2006 sci-fi drama Children of Men. But between a lack of available 3-D IMAX screens and a highly competitive holiday moviegoing season that includes a new Bond movie, the final Twilight movie, and The Hobbit, Warner Bros. »

Growing up the daughter of a pop star, the actor was always going to be in the spotlight. Here she talks about her rapid Hollywood rise – and why she'd never have been happy as a socialite
Lily Collins, actor and daughter of Genesis frontman Phil, settles among the dark woods and sinking velvets of an annoyingly hip hotel in Paris and sighs, then apologises immediately. She has flown here straight from the set of her next film – Writers, in which she stars alongside Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly – and there was no direct flight from North Carolina. Still, if the 23-year-old is jetlagged she doesn't look it. In the flesh she's all porcelain skin, raven hair and red lips – an excellent embodiment of Snow White if ever you saw one. Which is just as well, because Mirror Mirror, the film whose premiere she is attending, sees her play a ballsy, »

It’s hard to entirely blame the mediocrity of this week’s Breaking In on the show itself. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to be in the situation where one of your main actors, in this case Odette Annable, is contracted to be on another show, in this case House. It’s been made perfectly clear Annable would only be able to appear in a handful of episodes this season, and naturally the writers would need to come up with an explanation for Melanie’s absence from the Contra headquarters. Unfortunately, the reasoning they decided to go with didn’t really gel with the show and what we’ve learned about Melanie so far. It’s always been clear she’s a wild child with a criminal upbringing courtesy of her thief of a father, but at no point was it ever explicitly stated Melanie was »

The bond between the Academy Award winning actress and her two year old bundle of joy is obvious, so are adopted siblings in the works?
As previously reported by GossipCenter, rumors have been swirling that Bullock is in the process of adopting, but her rep have shot any such doings down, telling press, "She has no plans to adopt at the time," though who knows what the future could bring!

Actress Lily Collins felt sure her casting as Snow White, opposite Julia Roberts, in Mirror Mirror was a prank - because she received the fateful call on April Fool's Day (01Apr) last year.
In a year, the young star has gone from being Phil Collins' real-life daughter and Sandra Bullock's Blind Side daughter to a bona-fide Hollywood star - and she still can't believe it all started of the silliest day of the year.
She tells WENN, "When I first got the phone call, it was April Fool's Day and it was too good of a joke to think that it wasn't a joke. I thought it was the best April Fool's joke ever.
"Then, when I found out it wasn't, I broke down laughing, crying and screaming. I was in a hotel room with my mom and I was breaking down crying because I was so excited." »

Sandra Bullock has 'no plans' to adopt another baby. Reports surfaced yesterday (03-15-12) claiming the 47-year-old 'Blind Side' star was deep in the process of adopting a little brother or sister for two-year-old son Louis. A source told RadarOnline.com: ''Sandra has always planned to have more than one child. She feels that now is a good time for a new baby to be welcomed into the family. ''Louis is a little young to understand that he is going to be a big brother, but Sandy is trying to get him ready for the transition. It took her about 18 months to finally get Louis, and there is no timetable as to when she will get the second child. She doesn't care whether or not it's a boy or girl. She just wants a healthy a baby.'' However, Sandra's spokesman has now dismissed the claims, stating: ''She »

Irish Times is pissed about Streep's Oscar win and illustrates, again, that a backlash grows. But here's the interesting part...
One can think of many star actresses...who will submerge themselves in films bigger than themselves. But Streep has to be bigger than the movie, to the point where she can become, in effect, a substitute for it.
You may recall we were talking about just this fascinating issue (within the Oscar symposium). It's hardly a Streep-Only topic. What does it mean to "carry" a movie and should an actor ever be asked to?

At the Academy Awards, Best Picture might be the big prize, but the ones that both the winners and the audience have the most emotional connection to tend to be the acting prizes. Seeing a beloved star, or a fresh-faced newcomer, finally pick up a statue more often than not ends up leading the mainstream media coverage; it's always more moving than some producer's acceptance speech.
This year, we saw Meryl Streep finally win her third, and Christopher Plummer win his first, becoming the oldest actor ever to pick up a statuette. Those might have been predicted a while off by many. Meanwhile, two relative unknowns, Jean Dujardin and Octavia Spencer, also became Oscar-winners. Anyone who claims that they predicted those twelve months ago is a liar. Once again, the awards season can be guessed at, but it also springs up all kinds of surprises.

Thinking ahead to Sunday, what's my overall impression? Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like a pretty lean year.
Unquestionably, there are a few memorable films in the running, but also a lot of filler -- some nominees that simply make you scratch your head in wonderment.
For instance, I was stunned to find the oppressive Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close as a Best Picture nominee. How did that happen?
I was also surprised to see newcomer Rooney Mara getting a best actress nod, and Melissa McCarthy making the list for Bridesmaids. (Not that Rooney and Melissa didn't do fine work -- but this is the Oscars, right?)
How about Undefeated, the Blind Side retread and nominee for best documentary that earned lackluster reviews and a whopping 5.0 on iMDb?
Then there are the omissions, like Steve McQueen's potent Shame, which certainly should have earned Picture, Director »

In case you haven't gotten your fill of impassioned sports movies based on books, Disney has just announced plans to adapt another story from "Moneyball" author Michael Lewis to the big screen.
According to Variety, the "Blind Side' writer's 2005 book, "Coach: Lessons on the Game of Life," will be made into a feature, with the author himself taking on screenwriting duties. The story follows Lewis as he rediscovers the importance of one baseball mentor and coach.
Lewis has had success with his previous two film adaptations: "The Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock -- who won a Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy -- went on to gross more than $300 million at the box office, and "Moneyball," which has been nominated for six Academy Awards this year -- Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing -- and grossed more than $100 million. »
