Funnier than the usual bikini sex romp!

I ordered this film in from the States and what compelled me to do so is Adam Rifkin's and Miles Dougal's involvement. I am a huge Adam Rifkin fan, and miss the days in the early 90s when Rifkin would pop up in some places as Rif Coogan and was part of a film-making clique that included Tony Markes, Valerie Breiman, Brad Wyman, Cassian Elwes, Miles Dougal, Rod Sweitzer and David Andriole. The films they seemed to have churned out were a combination of A-list films such as The Chase and The Dark Backward, but with a long line of great B films including Psycho Cop Returns, The Invisible Maniac, Bikini Island, Going Overboard and Never on Tuesday. All of the same cast and crew would show up on these films and I loved that whole era but probably love it more since it has passed.

Bikini Squad falls into the B category of the clique and is a very entertaining way to spend 90 minutes. The acting is far better than other films of its type and the comedy is clever which I was expecting from director Valerie Breiman. The story is of a T.V. show in the vein of Baywatch which is called Bikini Squad. The producer (Lucky O'Boyle) hires a hot young female director (Becca Rocheford) to try and revive the show or is he? Lots of funny moments, the very funniest being Adam Rifkin's cameo as a Singing Teacher who is a transvestite and Miles Dougal who appears all through the film in bits as a pest wearing a brown coat with nothing underneath who keeps flashing his genitals to everybody on the beach. Watch for a quick cameo from Ted Raimi at the beginning. I recommend this to anyone who misses the funnier films of the comedy genre set amongst the backdrop of a beach and bikini clad women. This was one of the last in the long line of bikini sex comedies beginning in the late 70s.
