Excess and poor script
16 May 2008 | by (north dakota) – See all my reviews

This film is basically the combination of a late-night slasher film with an even later-night adult skin-flick. Here, we have an obsessed police officer (Jeff Kober) tracking down a murderer who only kills buxom woman, leaving a plastic baby-doll as his calling card. The man he believes to be the killer has been proved innocent and let-go, but that doesn't stop Kober from chasing the guy - at the risk of his job and relationship with police... secretary?... dispatcher? Melanie SMith.

A good drinking game can be played during this film. Either take a swig every time Kober bats an eyelash -which is never, or chug on the can when an actress has a topless scene - which is often.

VIOLENCE: $$$ (Lots of strangling. There is no gore - which keeps it from being a slasher film, but the body-count is high nonetheless).

STORY: $$ (We've seen this all before. Hollywood's favorite cliché - a tough cop who can't keep his rage in check - searches for a cold-blooded killer with your typical red herrings. The script is by-the-numbers but takes a few unnecessary detours in the process of driving toward the climax).

ACTING: $$ (Nothing note-worthy here either. Kober makes for a weak lead - he's better suited as a co-star/character actor. The great John Saxon plays his demanding superior but has little screen time. Bobby DiCicco is fine as the conservative cop playing straight to Kober's lack of control. Melanie Smith does a decent job with a ho-hum character, getting more out of the role than a lesser actress could).

NUDITY: $$$$$ (In abundance! Every victim is shown topless just for the sake of a topless scene. This flick redefines gratuitous! Melanie Smith (Seinfeld) adds top-notch skin. She is breath-taking and gives the film some depth).
