‘The Mummy’ Reviews: What the Critics Are Saying

7 June 2017 2:33 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Despite its strong opening overseas, not even Tom Cruise can save the “The Mummy” reboot from unfavorable reviews, which are currently averaging a 26 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the first installment of Universal’s “Dark Universe” film series, Cruise plays soldier Nick Morton, who scours ancient sites for timeless artifacts to sell them to the highest bidder. After coming under attack in the Middle East by a betrayed Egyptian princess, Cruise has to stop the previously entombed monster as she rampages throughout London. Cruise stars alongside Sofia Boutella, Jake Johnson, Russell Crowe, and Courtney B. Vance in the modern-day “Mummy” installment set to release in the U.S. this Friday.

The busy film received overwhelmingly negative reception, with most calling out the movie’s seemingly unrelated interconnected plot of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde tied in with an entirely different monster story. Other reviews call out the main story itself, »

Evil Dead 2 Soundtrack Gets Deluxe 30th Anniversary Vinyl Re-Issue

30 May 2017 4:15 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The cult favorite soundtrack for Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn is available for the first time in 30 years via Waxwork Records. The first Evil Dead was directed by Sam Raimi and became a horror cult classic thanks to the acting chops of star Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, and of course a lot of blood and gore. The sequel came out 6 years later under a new production house with Raimi directing and Campbell starring again, and has left fans puzzled for over 30 years now. Horror fans have long debated the details of Evil Dead 2, trying to figure out if the movie was supposed to be a larger budget remake of Evil Dead or if it's just a recap of the first movie. Bruce Cambell recently discussed the situation by stating that movie is actually a sequel and also a re-quel because they simply didn't own that first movie. »

To enter the contest, click the link here, and read all the details about Crepitus below.

From The Press Release

Getting a Grip on ‘Evil Dead II’

22 March 2017 12:52 PM, PDT | | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Celebrating 30 years worth of fanaticism and community in the cult of Ashley ‘Ash’ Williams.

Thanks to our Star Trekian utopia of VOD insta-satisfaction (“Number One, slap The Greasy Strangler on the view screen!”), it’s becoming difficult to remember the ruthless savagery of that bygone VHS hunt. I spent far too many days roaming my hometown and neighboring cities chasing down lesser-known Kurosawas, the Critters sequels, and the seemingly always elusive pre-Mad Max apocalyptic mindfuck, A Boy and His Dog. Too often I had to settle for less, and rewatch Police Academy 4 instead of the highbrow hilarity of Zapped! cuz some other Scott Baio devotee had the local Power Video on stakeout. If your tastes in cinema aligned with the Blockbuster new release guarantee then you were golden, but us degenerates with a predilection for Roger Corman, and movies made before our births were doomed to the endless quest. Making History Season 1 Review

3 March 2017 2:32 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Four episodes were provided prior to broadcast.

Time travel is all the rage on television. Between Legends of Tomorrow, Timeless, Frequency, Time after Time, 12 Monkeys and last year’s 11.22.63, which I’m currently watching, forget about the butterfly effect; this is deja vu. Yet, Fox decided to add another time traveler to the schedule: the ultra-goofy buddy comedy Making History. I gotta say though, it’s not exactly living up to its title…

Created by Julius Sharpe (Family Guy), Making History is decidedly more Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure than Primer. It centers on Dan (Adam Pally), a lowly, average guy who spends his work days in a janitorial position in a local college and his weekends (and occasional Tuesdays) traveling back to 1775, via a duffel bag time-traveler, to meet his Colonel girlfriend, Deborah (Leighton Meester). Inherited from his late father, Dan is unambitious but certainly not malicious with his gift. »

‘The Walking Dead 7×10: New Best Friends’ Review

Stars: Andrew Lincoln, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Chad Coleman, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Jeffrey Dean Morgan | Created by Robert Kirkman

I’m a fan of The Walking Dead, but I have many complaints about how the show often presents itself. One thing that it does well though is the slow build-up, and it does it confidently. That is why episode 10 is a good sign for season seven, as the army to take on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) begins to form.

Having found Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group also discover a new collection of survivors who at first are aggressive. While Rick is trying to form an alliance with the new group and being tested, Daryl (Norman Reedus) meets an old friend on the outskirts of the Kingdom.

It is always interesting to see new characters appear in The Walking Dead, »
