Peek Behind The Scenes Of Ash Vs. Evil Dead

26 August 2015 3:24 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

23 years on from the end of Army Of Darkness (or one of its endings at least) Bruce Campbell's Ash is still fighting Deadites, although he now seems to work at ValueStop rather than S-Mart. We've had trailers, posters and Comic-Con panels, and now here's a behind-the-scenes clip from the new TV series Ash Vs. Evil Dead. For a glimpse of some gory boomstick action and Campbell in a corset, take a sneaky look, like a witch peering up through a cellar door."He's selfish, lazy, but he's really good at fighting Deadites," says producer Rob Tapert of Ash, who we then see flinging an axe in slow-motion. "The idiots are back in town," grins Campbell. "Ash has always kept the chainsaw - and the shotgun and the book - but it's been rusting on a shelf somewhere so he has to reactivate it..."Evil Dead mindermast Sam Raimi has, »

Ash vs Evil Dead is bigger and badder than the original movies

26 August 2015 2:53 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Get a closer look at the gore and laughs that Ash vs Evil Dead is set to deliver this Halloween.

Bruce Campbell features in a new inside look from Starz, which promises a "bigger and badder and bolder and scarier" take on the horror franchise.

Campbell is reprising his role of Ash Williams, who originated in 1981's The Evil Dead and returned in two sequels - 1987's Evil Dead II and 1992's Army of Darkness.

Ash vs Evil Dead is a 10-part TV sequel to the movies, with an older Ash coming out of retirement to tackle more Deadites and new nemesis Ruby (Lucy Lawless).

Sam Raimi - director of the original films - has helmed the pilot episode, which kicks off the series on Saturday, October 31 at 9/8c on Starz.

Ash Vs Evil Dead Gets A Groovy Second Trailer

24 August 2015 2:26 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Starz

The marketing team behind Ash Vs Evil Dead have been spoiling us a little of late. Last week we got a new poster for the upcoming TV show, and today they’ve summoned a second trailer (hopefully not from the Necronomicon!).

Check it out below.

A lot of what’s on show here was also in the longer, July trailer, but the new additions continue to illustrate that Ash vs Evil Dead wants you laughing more than screaming.

Bruce Campbell is looking like he could be one of TV season’s next big MVPs. Reprising the role of Ash for the first time since 1992’s Army of Darkness, Campbell hasn’t lost the glib, grinning ways that earned the character iconic status. Much of the comedy looks pretty physical, which should be complicated by Campbell’s middle-age (the actor’s now 57), adding another potentially very funny dimension to his battle against the undead. »

Ash Vs. Evil Dead: Bruce Looks Bad-Ass In New Poster

20 August 2015 4:52 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Starz

The Evil Dead brand is known for merging scares and comedy, but the latter half of that formula was regrettably missing in 2013’s admittedly impressive reboot. That film segued into pure horror territory, leaving the macabre but intentionally humorous underbelly of previous instalments unscratched.

That’s not going to be an issue with the up-coming Ash Vs. Evil Dead TV series, which just debuted a new poster. Check it out below.

Starz

The tone of the TV series is much more in line with 1987’s Evil Dead 2 and 1992’s Army Of Darkness, blending extreme goofball behaviour back into the mix. It also reinstates Bruce Campbell to the front of the franchise (he appeared very, very briefly in the reboot), as a middle-aged and paunchy Ash.

The poster confirms this thing isn’t taking itself seriously. After the 2013 effort I’m down for a sillier dosage of deadite smiting goodness, »

'Ash Vs. Evil Dead' Photo Introduces Lucy Lawless as Ruby

31 July 2015 5:00 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Earlier today, during Starz's TCA press tour panel, Ash Vs. Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell hinted that the upcoming series may lead to more Evil Dead movies. Of course, it's a bit too early to be speculating about new movies, since Ash Vs. Evil Dead doesn't premiere until October 31. But during the presentation today, the Starz Twitter account released the first photo of Lucy Lawless from the highly-anticipated series. Lucy Lawless joined the cast in March as Ruby, described as, "a mysterious figure who is myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks." While she eventually teams up with Bruce Campbell's Ash, she also believes that he is the source of the Deadite invasion.

Lucy Lawless joins Bruce Campbell as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. »

Starz's Ash Vs. Evil Dead is coming off a rousing Comic-Con panel, where the cast and producers debuted the first trailer, and announced that the upcoming series will debut Saturday, October 31 at 9 Pm Et/Pt. The series is set years after the original movies The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn and Army Of Darkness, with Bruce Campbell claiming that fans will be clamoring for even more carnage after the series airs this year.

"This series will force us to make more movies. That's only 10 hours of programming; we need eight more movies. Making a fourth movie would work. No matter what we give them, it will never be enough. »

New Look at Lucy Lawless in Ash Vs Evil Dead

31 July 2015 1:40 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Starz has unveiled a new photo from Ash vs Evil Dead, giving fans a new look at Lucy Lawless as Ruby Knowby in the upcoming horror comedy series.

Recently at Comic-Con, Lawless discussed her character in Ash vs Evil Dead:

"My character's name is Knowby, K-n-o-w-b-y. Professor Knowby was the original owner of the  Necronomicon and she’s related to him. So, she's definitely carrying a big ass chip on her shoulder as to what Ash did to her family and the fact that he has begun a new Deadite plague now too.

She's absolutely gunning for him in a very obsessive way. Everything is all his fault, and she’s right to blame him."

Ash Vs. Evil Dead Trailer: 6 Things You Need To Know

Starz

Ash is back: protector of humanity, true ladies’ man, slayer of deadites, S-Mart employee of the month. In 1981, director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell changed the face of horror with the schlocky, ugly and downright hilarious B-movie that is Evil Dead. Then they did it again, six years later, with the chaotic masterpiece that is Evil Dead II.

These two films saw Ash, a normal guy with a poor taste in holiday destinations, having to slaughter his friends and girlfriends after they became consumed by the evil souls that haunt the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. They rounded off the trilogy with the flawed but truly hilarious action film Army Of Darkness (1991), in which the noble hero of the first two films heads back in time and rescues Medieval civilisation from the terrors of the Evil Dead.
