Great story and movie!!!
parian17 May 2009
Anmol is a very good movie with big actors.Manisha's performance really touches the heart and you feel with her in every second of the movie. Rishi Kapoor is of course brilliant of course. Not only the actors, but also the storyline is great. There was no scene where i felt bored. So it's a good entertaining movie. There are many sad scenes in the movie, so melancholy lovers will love it. And there are also some scenes where you can't stop laughing. Also the songs are big hits, with voices of Lata and Kumar Sanu. For example the songs Ayegi Woh Ayegi and Dil Lagane Ki are unforgettable songs. So people, what do you want more than this?!?!! I really can recommend it and hope you will like it, too.

Bollyversion of Cinderella Where The Prince Charming Is An Obese Popstar Wannabe
Chrysanthepop10 July 2008
'Anmol' is a clichéd Bollywood adaptation of the famous fairy tale Cinderella. There are a few Bollywoodized differences, for example the stepmom selling 'Cinderella' to a brothel as her ultimate revenge. Really, this is just another ridiculous Bollywood love story of the early 90s. Rishi Kapoor was still in his chronic fat-popstar syndrome phase as here he plays a fat popstar wannabe who makes a living singing in hotels and libraries (of all places!). Wait, he's not exactly poor poor. He has a super-rich dad (Sayed Jaffrey) who does not approve his career in singing and thus temporarily disowns him. The dialogues a pretty crap and repetitive. Johnny Lever has an item number too. But anyway, enough with the negatives. There are only two things likable about 'Anmol'. One is the music. Although the lyrics may not be the best, the tunes and melodies are beautiful and the songs are hummable. a young luminous Manisha Koirala is pleasant to watch. She does overact in a few scenes but otherwise she's a graceful presence. So, the movies sucks but Manisha and the soundtrack don't.

A warm feeling which the latest blockbusters just can't give
bilalk35 April 2013
An excellent film even though it's nearly 20 years old it really gives you that feeling which the latest Bollywood blockbusters can't, and that's coming from a 17 year old!

A well structured story line and the acting was superb, a fantastic performance from both Rishi Kapoor & Manisha Koirala. And the songs in this movie are great with sadness and enthusiasm. One of the best oldies in my opinion.

What really annoys me is that this film didn't get the recognition it deserved in its opening box office, never the less its a truly romantic film with scenes which want you to cry and others with a bit of laughter!
