Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • A man kidnaps his son and knocks an old woman to the ground while leaving.
  • Some characters are shot, others are shot at.
  • Huck kills a boar, then wipes his blood on the wall.(This is far less gruesome than it sounds, but we still se the boar-blood)
  • Huck and another boy are engaged in a fistfight at the beginning. The other boy gets a bloody nose.


  • Quite a few uses of he--, used often by Huck.(mostly used as "He--'s bells")
  • Several uses of d--n.
  • One use of "bloody", used by Huck.
  • Several mild British exclamations.
  • A boy calls another boy a "lard a--".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Men are very often seen drinking alcohol.
  • Two men get a man drunk to get information from him.
  • Twice Huck is seen smoking a pipe.
  • Tobacco is referenced once.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are a good number of frightening scenes in this movie.
  • Huck's "pap" threatens to kill him, and nearly carries out the threat with a knife.
  • Huck and Jim come across a wrecked boat. They board it, and Huck overhears two men threatening to kill another men. A dead body, with a bullet hole shown in its forehead, falls on top of Jim. It is implied obviously that all three men die as the ship sinks.(Huck and Jim barely make it off)
  • A slave is whipped.(we just see the man swinging the whip, the impact is not shown)
  • Huck is shot at the end, and they make it look like he died. (He wakes up safe and sound)

  • One of Huck's friends is killed in a feud.(we don't see the actual shooting, but we hear the gunshot, and we see him lying dead in the water)

  • Jim is soon after seen with several deep, long cuts in his back(from a whip).
