David (Sinbad) is a foster father for Zana and LJ, and he's very new to the game. He learns as much from the children as they learn from him.

Sinbad can do better
17 July 2003 | by (America) – See all my reviews

I like Sinbad I think he is a great comedian. His problem was he got stuck in a show on FOX. It was put in a great time slot, right after the Simpsons and the network had high hopes, but there was one problem: It wasn't funny. Sinbad played David Bryan, a computer engineer (I think) who becomes a foster parent. His children are of course sweet and lovable and have a lot to learn about life and Sinbad is going to show them how to do it.

The show was too much Cliff Huxtable, and not enough Sinbad. Not only that but every episode was so predictable. The show had terrible writing; I could have even attempted jokes as a writer. The two high points of the show were TK Carter as his friend and Hal Williams as Sinbads father, who is probably best remembered as the hip cop on Sanford and Son, and Marla Gibbs husband in 227. This show goes into the long list of FOX shows, which had a big star but a bad script, like George Carlin, George C. Scott and many others.
