Condensed Soup: Fran Drescher's Back! With Her Estrogen Patch!

10 December 2010 3:50 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

If you thought (or prayed) you'd seen the last of Fran Drescher after The Nanny went buh-bye, you were wrong. The self-loving cackle, the nails-on-chalkboard New Yawk whine, the aging sexy broad patter is all back in business now that Frannie has her very own talk show. Which is not so great for fans of talk shows, but manna from bloody heaven for Soup clips.  Let Joel McHale soften the re-entry into Drescherdom, and then come back tonight at 10 p.m. Et/Pt when your host rolls out a big fat Soup! »

Fran Drescher reunites with 'The Nanny' co-star Charles Shaughnessy... in bed

3 December 2010 8:55 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Last time we remember seeing them together on TV was on Lifetime's "The Nanny Reunion: A Nosh to Remember" in 2004. Six years later, Charles Shaughnessy (who played her boss, Maxwell Sheffield) and Fran Drescher will reunite Monday, Dec. 6 on her talk show, "The Fran Drescher Show," on Fox.

And what better place for the two who carried their flirtation over six seasons of "The Nanny" to reignite the fire than in bed!

"The Fran Drescher Show" airs on Fox stations in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Orlando. Check your local listings or visit FranDrescher.com for more information.

Doesn't Shaughnessy still look very dapper? »

Which Funnylady Is Starring in Sitcom Based on Her Life With Gay Ex-Husband?

3 December 2010 9:45 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

The Nanny fans, rejoice! Fran Drescher is returning to television comedy—and we're not talking about her new chat show on Fox... Twitter: Follow @marcmalkin You may have already heard that the funnylady has been developing Happily Divorced, a TV Land sitcom based on her life with ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, who revealed he was gay when they divorced after 21 years of marriage. While the cable network announced earlier this week that Drescher would only write and produce the series, a source now tells me that Drescher has "agreed to star in it, too." Jacobson and Drescher are not only best friends but business partners, too. Jacobson, The Nanny's cocreator, is a »

AfterElton Briefs: Name Your Bette Midler Favorite, Cheeks Flips the Bully Script, Introducing "Bent-Con," and More!

1 December 2010 4:10 PM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Happy Birthday to Bette Midler, who turns sixty-five today. Okay, the question of the day: What's your favorite Bette movie? Is it The Rose, For The Boys or  Beaches? Or is it one of her comedies, such as Ruthless People, The First Wives Club, or Down and Out in Beverly Hills? Or is it the made-for-tv Gypsy or ... Drowning Mona? For me, it's a tie between Outrageous Fortune ("Does the phrase 'needle-dick, the bug-f**ker' mean anything to you?"), and Big Business ("I hate men who smell like beer and bean dip ... and makin' love in the back of recreational vehicles!"). Below you can see Bette on Inside the Actor's Studio, talking about being Disney-fied in the 80's.

Today is World AIDS Day, and here's an article from last year that shows that, believe it or not, the HIV-virus has actually been used to help treat some diseases. Below you »

Exclusive: TV Land has greenlighted two more comedy pilots from sitcom veterans:  Happily Divorced, written/executive produced by The Nanny co-creators, actress Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobsen, and Rip City, written/exec produced by Lizzy McGuire and Less Than Perfect creator Terri Minsky and executive produced by Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis (Reba, TV Land's upcoming Retired at 35). The two half-hours join the recently ordered comedy pilot Ex Men, from former Fraiser executive producer Mark Reisman. Happily Divorced is based on Drescher's real life. In addition to co-writing/exec producing, the former Nanny actress could potentially star in the project, about a woman who re-enters the dating world after finding out that her husband is gay. It focuses on how she juggles her relationship with her current boyfriend and ex-husband post-divorce. Drescher and Jacobsen are also executive producing Drescher's syndicated talk show, which is making a trial run on the Fox stations. »

'Walking Dead' scares up season high numbers; 'Glee' tackles 'Dog Days are Over'

29 November 2010 10:43 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

AMC's latest hit "The Walking Dead" keeps on bringing the ratings magic for the network. The Nov. 28 episode brought in the series' best ratings yet, drawing 5.5 million viewers, beating the show's premiere on Halloween and a 15% increase from the previous week's episode. We're guessing next week's season finale will improve on those numbers. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Sectionals are here, Gleeks! The McKinley High glee kids decided to take on a big challenge for their sectionals performance on "Glee" and tackled Florence + The Machine's "Dog Days are Over." While it's not their best cover, we still think it will win them the title. Also, it seems Santana (Naya Rivera) got to sing lead on this one, so kudos, Show. [PopWrap]

Dan Aykroyd has been confirmed to guest star on CBS' dama "The Defenders." He will play a tough judge in two episodes opposite his "Blues Brothers" co-star Jim Belushi (Belushi replaced his late brother John Belushi, »

Fran Drescher: 'Dancing with the Stars' called, but the price wasn't right

"The Nanny" star Fran Drescher tells Zap2it the time is right for her new talk show premiering on select Fox networks on Nov. 26.

That doesn't mean there haven't been other opportunities to come back to TV. In fact, she has been approached to join the No. 1 show on television, "Dancing with the Stars," but the activist and actress tells us that the price wasn't right.

"I've been asked [to do] 'Dancing With The Stars' in the past," Drescher tells us. "But it's too much of a commitment and not enough money. I have too many things going on. I watch it, but I don't really need to do it. It's just too time consuming."

The new talk show host tells us that we're not the first to tell her she'd rock those bedazzled costumes and probably has quite the dancing ability. "Well, who knows? Maybe I'd last for a while, »

Ray Romano talks 'Exporting Raymond,' Phil Rosenthal's excellent Russian adventure

5 November 2010 2:39 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The long-running CBS comedy "Everybody Loves Raymond" focused on the daily misadventures of a Long Island, N.Y., sportswriter, and was based in large part on the families and experiences of star Ray Romano and creator/producer Phil Rosenthal.

But one hallmark of a hit comedy is relatability, and a beleaguered family man in Long Island can't be all that different from a beleaguered family man in Russia, right?

That's the idea behind a Sony executive's decision to allow Russian television to develop its own version of "Raymond," based on the characters and scripts from the original -- the studio had already had a hit in Russia with a revamped "The Nanny" -- and that decision has led to a new documentary called "Exporting Raymond," which premiered at the Austin (Texas) Film Festival in late October and is slated for wide release in early 2011.

Rosenthal agreed to oversee the transition »

At a Hollywood theater Tuesday night, there will be a benefit called "1 Voice," featuring performances and passionate pitches from Richard Dreyfuss, John Schneider, Esai Morales, Nichelle Nichols, Connie Stevens and a dozen others. The event is more than about raising money: It aims to ramp up efforts to save the long-term-care facility on the Wasserman campus at the Motion Picture Country Home in Woodland Hills.

"It's an awareness evening," said John F. McCormick, who will direct the show at the Neo Ensemble Theatre. "We need to keep having this conversation about what is happening and how we can help."

Since the plan to close the facilities was disclosed in January 2009, there have been numerous media reports and the formation of a number of committees to address the situation, all of which has been embarrassing to the Motion Picture & Television Fund. The nonprofit, which has overseen the premier industry charity for generations, »

"The Nanny" star Fran Drescher has revealed that she was married for 21 years to a gay man, although she didn't know it at the time, reports the latest edition of In Touch.

Peter Marc Jacobson and the actress were high school sweethearts and wed in 1978. "We were just kids and didn't know who we truly were. We went through a lot together," says Drescher, 52.

During their marriage, the couple collaborated on a number of projects, including creating "The Nanny."

Jacobson was tied up and forced to watch as two armed robbers raped Drescher and one of her female friends at gunpoint. She discusses this ordeal in her book, "Enter Whining."
