19 July 2017 6:18 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We may not be seeing them back on the big screen any time soon, but Idw Publishing is reuniting the characters of last year’s Ghostbusters reboot for the new five-issue limited series Ghostbusters: Answer the Call from writer Kelly Thompson (Hawkeye, Ghostbusters: Deviations) and artist Corin Howell (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Ghostbusters: International).

In the exciting series debut, “What Dreams May Come, Part 1!,” while on a routine house call to dispose of a simple Class III spook, Abby, Patty, Erin, and Holtzmann encounter a truly terrifying Class VII that appears to be feeding on fear. Able to create illusions that prey on their greatest fears and with designs on turning the world into its own nightmare dimension (‘natch!), our ladies may have finally met their match!

“After the phenomenal success of teaming the 2016 Ghostbusters with the original Ghostbusters in our dimension-hopping Ghostbusters 101 series, we are very excited to bring »

‘Power Rangers’ Stays Top-Selling Disc for Second Week

12 July 2017 3:21 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Lionsgate’s “Saban’s Power Rangers,” which earned more than $85 million in U.S. theaters, remained the top-selling disc for the second consecutive week, according to the Npd VideoScan sales figures for the week that ended July 9.

But in its second week of release, the third theatrical feature film based on the TV superhero series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” ceded the No. 1 spot on Npd VideoScan’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart to Walt Disney Studios’ live-action “Beauty and the Beast,” finishing the week in second place.

Beauty and the Beast” had been No. 2 on both the Blu-ray Disc chart and Npd VideoScan’s overall disc sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales, the previous week. Released June 6, the film debuted at No. 1 on both charts and has regained the top spot on several occasions.

Lionsgate’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” and Warner’s “The Lego Batman Movie” remained at No. 3 and No. »

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man almost had a better Green Goblin

9 July 2017 7:17 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Mike Cecchini Jul 10, 2017

Check out how Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin could and arguably should have looked in the first Spider-Man movie.

While there's plenty to praise about Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sam Raimi's first two Spider-Man movies will always have a special place in our hearts. The first film features a a nearly flawlessly executed first act origin story, the cast is perfect, and the franchise gets off to a tremendous start. And how could you possibly go wrong with the great Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn, right?

Well, for one thing, you could put him in a plastic costume with an immobile full face mask that looked like it would've struggled to pass muster for a villain of the week on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It says a lot about just how good the film's final act is (not to mention Dafoe's performance) that it's able to overcome the Goblin's costume shortcomings. »

‘Power Rangers’ Debuts Atop Home-Video Charts

5 July 2017 8:08 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

“Saban’s Power Rangers,” the third theatrical feature film based on the TV superhero series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” debuted at No. 1 on all three home video charts the week ended July 2, giving Lionsgate yet another triple-play victory in the DVD and Blu-ray Disc arena.

The big-budget reboot, which earned more than $85 million in U.S. theaters, was the week’s top seller and rental, bowing at No. 1 on the Npd VideoScan overall disc sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales; Npd’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart; and Home Media Magazine’s video rental chart.

On the two sales charts, Walt Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast” moved back into the No. 2 position after reappearing in the top spot the previous week.

Another Lionsgate release, “John Wick: Chapter 2,” came in at No. 3, also on both charts. The film had occupied the same position the prior week on the overall disc chart »

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Guess Who Plays The Voice Of Spidey’s Suit AI

5 July 2017 12:30 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Tony Stark loves putting helpful AI in all his suits. It’s been a staple of his ever since Jarvis back in Iron Man. Of course, Jarvis has since been turned into the superhero Vision, and Stark’s own armor AI is now called Friday — a female voice played by actress Kerry Condon. But that isn’t the only AI in the McU these days.

This Friday in Spider-Man: Homecoming, audiences will be introduced yet another female AI voice. This voice belongs to Spider-Man’s new suit. If you’ll recall, prior to running in with Stark, Peter Parker ran around saving New York in some shoddy P.J.s, but with billions at his disposal, Stark gave Peter quite the upgrade. Included in that upgrade is another AI, who Spider-Man names Karen in the film.

Spider-Man: Homecoming - Director Jon Watts On Why Some Shots In The Trailer Weren't In The Movie

5 July 2017 10:26 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

It’s one of the most annoying things about movies sometimes. When I see a trailer, I usually expect all or at least 99 percent of the footage in those trailers to be in the movie. However, increasingly often, it seems like movie studios are content to leave a good number of those those shots on the cutting room floor. Perhaps most famously and most recently was Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which featured almost none of the actual shots in the trailer, as the movie was basically remade during reshoots.

Marvel Studios is also guilty of this quite a bit, though they have more of a tendency to use different takes of the same shots from their trailer. This is definitely the case for a good number of shots in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, but there were also a couple of shots in the trailer that never made it to the finished film. »

Review: Power Rangers 4K Ultra, Blu-ray and Digital HD DVD Releases

For any of us who grew up with the Power Rangers (which is likely a majority seeing the number of years they have spanned) have either already seen the movie, or are looking to check it out upon its release on DVD.  Below I will give an overview of the movie itself followed by a review of the special features included on the different DVD releases:

The Movie:

The film opens with a large exposition introducing the audience to the teenagers with attitude. Each individual fits some type of the cliche high school student, and while some have been put off by this, it actually is a strong reflection of the 1990's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which gave a nostalgic feel to a modern take.  I did feel that there was a bit too much focus on the "attitude" of each individual.  Yes, the original series »

“Judge me all you want, if you took the time to open this review based on the title, The Pink Ranger was Your first love too”

Back in January I brought you all the awesome news that Manga Entertainment UK had secured the rights to distribute the awesome 1993 classic series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on DVD for the first time in the UK… Ever. Obviously as a massive fan of the original series there was no way this was getting by me, You know for Nostalgia and stuff.

Well I got home from my family holiday a short while ago and was psyched to find the full series one boxset on my door mat and wasted no time in tearing through this 6-disc collection of my childhood viewing pleasures (my “Rosebud” if you like). Watch The Original Pink And Green Ranger Cameo In Power Rangers Deleted Scene

14 June 2017 12:19 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

While we’re still not sure if this year’s Power Rangers reboot will prove successful enough to warrant a sequel, let’s just enjoy the fact that a childhood favourite of many 90s children was brought to the big screen once again in the first place. Though it didn’t please everyone, there were several awesome moments – not least the cameo starring Mighty Morphin Power Rangers stars Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson. Otherwise known to fans as Tommy the Green Ranger and Kimberly the Pink Ranger (a role played by Naomi Scott in the reboot).

In the movie, the pair appeared at the end of the Rangers’ big battle with Rita Repulsa and Goldar. As the townsfolk of Angel Grove gaze up in awe at the Megazord, Frank and Johnson can be seen in the crowd. A nice touch is that they’re wearing their respective Ranger colours. »
