Living Single (TV Series 1993–1998) Poster

(1993–1998)

Trivia

The first sitcom to feature four African American females as lead characters.
Many main cast members of "Different World" appeared on the show: Jasmine Guy as a psychologist, Kadeem Hardison as Khadijah's reporter-rival-romantic-interest, Darryl Bell as Regine's romantic-interest, Cree Summer as Overton's romantic-interest, Charnele Brown as Khadijah's and Max's college friend and Karen Malina White as Max's college roommate. Also Bumper Robinson (Dorien on ADW) as Khadijah's bike messenger-turned-obsessed employee, Ivan.
In an episode where Max's ex-boyfriend comes over for dinner with his new girlfriend, Regine tells the woman that she looks familiar and asks what school she attended. She replies "Eastland" boarding school, and Regine says, "Hmm, never heard of it," while looking towards the camera. This is a reference to actress Kim Fields's role on the sitcom The Facts of Life (1979), which is set at the fictitious "Eastland School for Girls".
The key that Khadijah wears around her neck most of the series is in memory of Queen Latifah's brother, who died in a motorcycle accident.

In an episode where Regine takes her mom to dinner, mom makes a comment about there being "a lot of chips in those chips!" The mother is played by the actual mom of Kim Fields, Chip Fields; hence, the play on words.
