Ryan Lochte Interview Mocked by Stephen Colbert

23 August 2016 10:44 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Ryan Lochte is still in hot water.

The disgraced Olympian — who fabricated his account about being robbed in Rio — was lampooned by Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” Monday night.

Colbert edited himself into Lochte’s interview’s with Matt Lauer that originally aired Saturday, in which the swimmer admitted he “over-exaggerated” the part of his story where a gun was cocked and placed to his forehead. In typical “Late Show” fashion, Lochte’s responses — one in particular — were used as comedic fodder.

Watch the “interview” below:

Lochte continues to face fallout from his actions in Rio de Janeiro.

Four sponsors — Speedo, Ralph Lauren, Airweave and Syneron-Candela (the maker of Gentle Hair Removal where Lochte served as a spokesperson) — dropped the swimmer on Monday. Speedo tweeted that it would donate a portion of Lochte’s $50,000 fee to Save The Children.

Before Ralph Lauren dropped its sponsorship, its social media accounts were filled with comments like, “your »

Watch Stephen Colbert's Hilarious Fake Interview With Ryan Lochte

23 August 2016 6:51 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Stephen Colbert grilled Ryan Lochte with a banana and a cat toy in a hard-hitting "interview" with the disgraced swimmer on The Late Show Monday.

The short clip used snippets from Lochte's actual tell-all on Today, in which the swimmer addressed why he claimed he was robbed at gunpoint in Rio when he actually vandalized a gas station.

Colbert gleefully re-contextualized the interview, especially Lochte's admission that he was intoxicated not just during the incident itself, but during an interview with Billy Bush several hours later. The host even asked »

The stars, who famously dated on and off from 2010 to 2013, most recently grabbed headlines for their heated Instagram feud over the weekend, but, of course, this isn't the first time these two have gone at it. In case you're not familiar with their history, allow us break it down for you. Image Source: Getty / Michael Buckner February 2011: After rumors swirled that Selena and Justin were secretly dating, the duo finally went public with their love and made their first red carpet appearance as a couple at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. March 2011: During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Selena played coy when asked about her relationship status with Justin, saying, "I don't know. I don't know . . . He's just sweet." Stephen Colbert Taps VP Nominee Tim Kaine for First ‘Late Show’ Appearance

18 August 2016 10:10 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Democratic Vice Presidential nominee and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine will make his first appearance on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday, August 25, the network announced today.

Elected to the United States Senate in 2012, Kaine was chosen as Hillary Clinton’s running mate in the 2016 presidential race on June 22. A former missionary and civil rights attorney, Kaine has spent more than two decades in public service and is one of only 30 people to have served as a Mayor, Governor and Senator.

Having established himself through his satirical political punditry on “The Colbert Report,” Colbert has attempted to recapture that energy (and ratings) in his new perch on “The Late Show” during this year’s presidential race, with an increased focus on politics in recent months. The host has already revived his right-wing character (and his “identical twin cousin”) from the Comedy Central series, in addition to going live with “The Late Show” following the Republican »

Showtime boss David Nevins revealed that Stephen Colbert is in the frame to host a live election night special on Showtime, dropping the news during the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday.

“People don’t just want to watch CNN and Fox News. We want them to watch Showtime on election night,” Nevins said during his executive session, pointing out how fun it would be for viewers to watch Colbert announce which candidate won each state, instead of traditional news anchors.

While Nevins classed the news as a “half-announcement” because the deal has not been finalized yet, he noted, “I think it’s gonna happen — Stephen wants to do it, I want to do it, the studio wants to do it.” Colbert has the night off from his full-time role as host of CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on the night of the election — Tuesday, November 8 — Nevins said, which »

Harry Connick Jr. on New Talk Show: ‘We’re Not Going to Play Games’

3 August 2016 11:09 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Harry Connick Jr.’s new NBCUniversal-produced daytime show will feature many of the trappings of a traditional talker — a live band, celebrity interviews. But what’s also notable is what it won’t have.

“We’re not going to play games,” Connick said of his guests Wednesday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour. “I’m not going to put them in dunk tanks.”

Connick has been a staple guest on late-night and daytime talkers for years. In his new show, “Harry,” which was picked up last in October to run on 17 Fox-owned stations nationwide, Connick will work with executive producers Eric and Justin Stangel, former head writers for CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman.”

“I’ve been up there with just about everybody, and there are people who I consider to be the best in the business,” Connick said. “I think Dave Letterman, as far as a person who would ask questions and interact »
