Louis C.K. Reveals the Filthiest Joke He Ever Got On Air (It Was Pretty Bad)

12 May 2015 8:01 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Back in the ’90s, Louis C.K. was a writer for Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and like any young comedy writer would, he spent his time trying to sneak stuff past NBC's standards and practices. Last night, C.K. returned to Late Night to reveal the story of his greatest triumph: the time he and Dino "Starburns" Stamatopoulos once got a "pearl necklace" joke on the air. Their secret? Nobody else knew what it meant. Then the segment got awkward, because it was apparent much of the audience also didn't know what it meant, forcing Louis and Seth to dance around the subject and generally regret bringing the whole thing up. Were these people never eighth-graders? »

Let's reflect on Amy Poehler's incredible work as Andy Richter's little sister

26 March 2015 1:26 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

For no reason at all (other than the recent occasion of St. Patrick's Day maybe?), you just need to watch this hilarious bit from the late '90s with Amy Poehler guest-starring on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" as Andy Richter's insane, Conan-loving little sister. Poehler played versions of this character on Comedy Central's "Upright Citizens Brigade" and later on "SNL," but its raw power is most unbridled here. Remember how long sketches used to go on these shows? I miss it! »

How Triumph the Insult Comic Dog mocked me — but asked for permission first

10 January 2015 5:45 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

First, the joke. In the middle of today at press tour, Adult Swim paneled "The Jack and Triumph Show," an upcoming multi-cam sitcom starring Jack McBrayer and the show's creator Robert Smigel in his guise as Triumph the Insult Dog. Smigel began the panel hiding behind a chair and letting Triumph roast the room, which included this bit: No, you guys are great. Lots of great people here. The great Alan Sepinwall. Yes. Used to be a New Jersey guy. Now he’s got his own column, “What’s Alan Watching?” Not his weight! Oh, snap. It’s okay. Alan’s a friend. Alan’s good. He’s actually taking care of himself. He’s on a strict diet of Matt Weiner’s asshole. Wait. That one needs a rim shot. It’s a joke. You all kiss Matt Weiner’s ass. No, I’m honored to be here at the TCA, »
