Fox 2014-15 Season Ratings (updated 9/21/15)

21 September 2015 2:21 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

A few years ago, Fox had some of the top-rated TV shows on the air. Now, the network is struggling. Which series will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned.

How do the execs decide what to cancel or keep? They look at a lot of different factors but the ratings play a very large role. The higher the ratings, the better chances a show has of surviving.

Fox shows this season (so far): American Idol, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, Backstrom, Bob's Burgers, Bones, Boom!, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Bullseye, Empire, Family Guy, The Following, Glee, Golan the Insatiable, Gotham, Gracepoint, Hell's Kitchen, Home Free, Knock Knock Live, The Last Man on Earth, MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, The Mindy Project, Mulaney, New Girl, Red Band Society, The Simpsons, Sleepy Hollow, So You Think You Can Dance, Utopia, Wayward Pines, and Weird Loners. »

Ratings: NBC Finishes No. 1 in Demo for Full 52-Week Season

15 September 2015 3:57 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The first two primetime NFL games of the season and continued strong performances by reality staples “America’s Got Talent” and “American Ninja Warrior” helped lift NBC to an easy primetime ratings victory in key demos last week, putting an exclamation point on the network’s second consecutive 52-week season victory.

One week away from the start of the 2015-16 campaign, NBC took a victory lap on Tuesday for the full 2014-15 television season, as it’s poised to finish on top in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34 while placing second to CBS in total viewers, according to Nielsen “most current” ratings through Sunday (51 weeks). Specifically in the key 18-49 demo, its 2.1 rating will finish two tenths ahead of ABC and CBS (both 1.9) and four tenths ahead of Fox (1.7).

And even without the Super Bowl, NBC would have finished on top in 18-49 for the 52-week season, with »

Ratings: NBC’s ‘Carmichael Show’ Grows in Second Week

3 September 2015 9:02 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Update: In updated national estimates from Nielsen released Thursday afternoon, NBC’s “The Carmichael Show” declined a smidge with its first episode (1.2 rating, actually a 1.25 in un-rounded numbers), but its 9:30 p.m. episode held at a 1.0. Week to week, the 9 p.m. half-hour finishes up a tick from its premiere and the 9:30 p.m. half-hour is up two ticks, marking the first comedy to rise at least 0.2 in week 2 since CBS’ “New Adventures of Old Christine” in 2006.

In total viewers, the first half-hour finished at 4.77 million, and the second at 3.90 million.  The audience tally for the 9 p.m. episode is the largest for a week 2 comedy since Fox’s “Method and Red” in June 2004, a span covering 19 summer comedies.

Elsewhere, CBS’ “Big Brother” (2.1), ABC’s “Celebrity Wife Swap” finale (0.9) and NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” (1.2) all were revised up a tenth, while CBS’ “Extant” gave back a tenth »

Ratings: Solid Sampling for NBC Comedy ‘The Carmichael Show’

27 August 2015 9:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

NBC’s second short-run summer comedy, “The Carmichael Show,” opened to decent numbers on Wednesday, a night otherwise dominated by reality show giants “Big Brother” on CBS and “America’s Got Talent” on NBC. Also of note were season highs for CBS’ “Extant” and CW’s “America’s Next Top Model.”

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “The Carmichael Show” averaged a 1.1 rating/4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers overall in the 9 p.m. slot and a 0.9/3 and 4.1 million at 9:30 — with both episodes down a tick in the demo from the premieres of “Mr. Robinson” for its Aug. 5 bow and in line with the ABC repeat comedies in the time period. Thanks in large part to its lead-in from “America’s Got Talent” (1.6/6 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall), “Carmichael” opened with the highest total-viewer tally of the last 12 comedies to premiere during summer (since CBS’ “Creature Comforts »

Wednesday Ratings: ‘Big Brother’ Strong; ‘Mr. Robinson’ Down Slightly in Finale

20 August 2015 9:44 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

There was little Wednesday-night ratings movement this week, with CBS’ “Big Brother” again ruling as the top show in demos despite facing tough reality competition, and newcomer NBC comedy “Mr. Robinson” holding up pretty well in its final week.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “Big Brother” (2.1/8 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) was just a bit below its season high of last week (and may get there in the finals due to its propensity to rise in the afternoon adjustments). It was the night’s No. 1 show in 18-49 as well as 25-54 (2.5/8) and 18-34 (1.5/7). “Extant” (0.7/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) held steady at 9, again ranking fourth among the Big Four in 18-49, and a repeat “Criminal Minds” closed things out (0.6/2 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall).

Ratings: ‘Big Brother’ Wins Reality Showdown; ‘Mr. Robinson’ Steady for NBC

13 August 2015 9:56 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

In a Wednesday showdown pitting the top-rated summer reality show on three networks, CBS’ strong and steady “Big Brother” emerged as the night’s top show. And on the scripted side, NBC comedy “Mr. Robinson” held up well in its second week, contributing to the net’s nightly win in young adults.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “Big Brother” (2.1/9 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall) appears poised to match its summer high of 2.2 in 18-49 (it regularly is revised up in the nationals) while drawing one of its largest overall audiences on any night of the season; its previous total-viewer high of 6.915 million came for its season premiere.

“Brother,” the night’s No. 1 show in 18-49, bested head-to-head competitors “America’s Got Talent” on NBC (1.6/6 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) and Fox’s “MasterChef” (1.4/6 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall), with the latter down a smidge and on the low end of its summer range. »

Ratings: ‘Big Brother’ Hits High; Decent Start for ‘Mr. Robinson’

6 August 2015 9:50 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

CBS’ s “Big Brother” hit a summer high on Wednesday, a night that also saw NBC’s long-delayed Craig Robinson comedy “Mr. Robinson” open to solid-enough ratings, winning its hour in young adults and becoming the most-watched summer comedy premiere on any network in eight years.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “Mr. Robinson” averaged a 1.2 rating/4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers overall for its first episode at 9 p.m., and a 1.0/4 in the demo and 3.8 million total viewers for another original at 9:30. The 1.2 is a bit below where “Undateable” opened last summer for NBC, while the total-viewer count bests the last 11 summer comedy premieres since CBS launched the animated “Creature Comforts” in 2007.

The Tuesday 9 p.m. timeslot will be filled by a one-hour encore of “The Last Man on Earth” next week, and encores of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Last Man on Earth” going forward.
