When Sam shows up at your door, usually your luck has officially run out, but Mezco Toyz’s Sam doll is an exception to that rule. The Zombie Apocalypse, a trailer for the short film Bad Acid, and Echoes graphic novel cover art and release details.

Mezco Toyz’s Trick ‘R Treat Doll: From Mezco Toyz: “He may look like a child dressed for trick or treating, but Sam is the personification of Halloween itself.

Straight from the film Trick ‘r Treat comes Sam, the enforcer of the rules of Halloween. Beneath his apparently innocent scarecrow mask is his misshapen, demonic head. Part pumpkin, part supernatural being, Sam shows no mercy to those who show disrespect to his holiday.

Ricky Gervais’ Special Correspondents gets a hilarious first trailer

23 March 2016 1:55 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The first official trailer for Special Correspondents, an upcoming Netflix original comedy written and directed by Ricky Gervais, has been released. Gervais also stars in the film as a struggling radio journalist, who fakes “frontline war reports from a NYC hideout” alongside Eric Bana’s hapless technician. Watch the hilarious trailer below…

While Gervais is a well-known and highly respected comedian/comedic actor, Bana, too, is no stranger to making people laugh, despite landing dramatic work more often. At the start of his career, the actor appeared on an Australian sketch comedy show entitled Full Frontal, which essentially launched his career; additionally, he had a small role in 2009’s Funny People and stole nearly every scene he was in.

Later this year, Gervais’s The Office spinoff film, David Brent: Life on the Road, will be released as well. Check out new posters from the film here.

Late-Night’s New Battle: Will John Oliver, Samantha Bee and Others Usurp TV News?

16 February 2016 7:51 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

One of the nation’s most intriguing TV journalists is meticulous in his preparation. Every video clip that appears on his show is fact-checked.  An attorney is often called upon to vet the contents of his reports. When some of his digging uncovered things related to the National Security Agency, he had staffers on his show give the agency a call to get its side of the story.

The reporter’s name? John Oliver.

Oliver wouldn’t nominate himself for a Pulitzer Prize (though he has won a Peabody Award), and takes great pains to explain that he’s just trying to make people laugh. “We are on the same day, and the comparison ends there,” he said of “60 Minutes,” the venerable CBS newsmagazine to which many equate his HBO program, “Last Week Tonight.” Yet Oliver is only one of a cadre of talk-show comedians pushing the genre into new territory. »

Andrew Knight's "insane" year: Hacksaw Ridge and writing Rake on planes

7 February 2016 7:36 PM, PST | | See recent news »

Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge.

If there was an Aacta award for Australia's busiest screenwriter, Andrew Knight would take the prize in a cakewalk..

Last year the veteran of Seachange and Full Frontal worked on three films and two television series.

In between trips to La and London (where he's developing a film with Jonathan Teplitzky, Shakespeare in Love's David Parfitt and Essential's Ian Collie), Knight managed to churn out a new season of Rake and another Jack Irish, the latter of which premieres this Thursday on the ABC.

"It was just insanity", Knight said..

"I'm taking a huge break at the moment. I don't know how long, but I'm taking a long time off. I'm off to India shortly with my wife".

"I was writing Rake scripts on planes, and producing Jack Irish with [Ian] Collie. The year's a blur for me. I think the public's going to be »
