Character actor Michael Shannon has been nominated for his second Oscar for his role in the 2016 thriller Nocturnal Animals. "No Small Parts" takes a look at some of the other characters he's played in the past.
I have no idea why the rating is so low here. Just the fact that they gathered Chow Wai Man, Veronica Yip, and Loretta Lee in one movie should earn the movie an extra point.
Summer Lovers is a '90s style Hong Kong comedy that's not so serious a take on life. Ting (Alfred Chung) is a lifeguard at a beach. He sees Liza (Vivian Chow) at the beach and has a crush on her. While this is going on, Ting finds a girl Siu Yuk (Veronica Yip) from the laser disk come to life. She goes out shopping and attracts attention of Paul. He woos her not knowing who she really is. Paul is soon joined by another girl from video Janet (Loretta Lee). The two gets into romantic relationship. Russel Wong makes a cameo appearance as the ex boyfriend of Liza.
With this many beautiful actors in one movie, the story is almost irrelevant. And the actors do what they should do, which is to flaunt their beauty in their own ways. Vivian Chow is so beautiful, and Veronica Yip in bikini is unbelievable. The movie also contains the famous swimsuit scene of Loretta Lee. Funny irreverent story, and bit of sexploitation is what this movie is all about. But acting, and production is also par with the beautiful actors that's in this film.
This is one of the classic from the '90s, and is worth a watch.
