Storyline

A young Pakistani, living in England thinks that he is a cowboy and dreams of leading his country music band to success in Nashville. He meets a young woman who leaves her abusive husband and joins their group as a singer, but when they get a break with a record company, the company is only interested in her. Taking the proceeds of the sale of their family home, they finally set out to achieve their dream in Nashville. There are several comic sub-plots as well, the main one revolving around a biker gang out to get the family. Written by Blair Stannard <stannard@sonetis.com>

A slapdash cheerful affair
1 September 2001 | by (Chantilly, VA) – See all my reviews

Uneven to say the least. Pretty much a "day in the life" type of movie. It kept my attention because it showed a sub-culture that I didn't have much knowledge of (English-Indian). Add in the offbeat touch of the main characters playing in county-western band and it gets pretty engaging. The music, by the way, was pretty good (but I'm no expert of C&W music). The problem was that things came and went in the story. The husband, the thugs, the jobs, all loosely connected and never really resolved. But, all in all, not a bad way to spend some time.
