Michael Lennick, Canadian Documentarian, Dies at 61

Documentarian and visual effects supervisor Michael Lennick died Nov. 7 at 61, according to producer and friend Chris Darling.

Lennick directed a number of documentaries focusing on science and astronautics for television, including “Rocket Science” and “Doctor Teller’s Very Large Bomb” for PBS as well as “The Land of Space and Time” and “The Highest Step In The World,” which both received honors at the White Sands and Houston International Film Festivals.

The Toronto native began his career as a special effects specialist, working on films such as Andrew  David Cronenberg’s “Videodrome,” “The Dead Zone” and “The Fly.” His final project, this year’s “The Scanners Way,” was a documentary to accompany the 25th anniversary edition of Cronenberg’s “Scanners.”

Lennick also c0-created, co-wrote and directed “The All Night Show” in 1981 for MTV47 in Toronto, a latenight show made up of a variety of short films, old television shows, »

Christopher Nolan Rejected 'Man of Steel' End Credits Scene

When DC Comics announced their release slate through the year 2020 last month, it was clear that the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be the launching pad for this massive comic book universe. As it turns out, Warner Bros. may have wanted last year's Man of Steel to truly set up this world, but producer Christopher Nolan shot down the notion.

R.I.P. James Rebhorn

Prolific character actor James Rebhorn has passed away at the age of 65. Rebhorn died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed with in 1992.

Rebhorn had managed to stave off that skin cancer for the past twenty years - and portrayed many of his most famous on screen roles during that time. He worked right up until last month, and died Friday afternoon at his home in New Jersey. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

The actor had memorable key supporting roles in a variety of films such as "The Game," "Independence Day," "My Cousin Vinny," "The Talented Mr. Ripley," "Basic Instinct," "Scent of a Woman," "Meet the Parents," "Regarding Henry," "Lorenzo's Oil," "Guarding Tess," "Cold Mountain," "Far from Heaven," "White Squall," "Wind," "Shadows and Fog," "White Sands," "Carlito's Way," "My Fellow Americans," "Real Steel," "The International," "Baby Mama," and "The Box".
