Don't even know where to start. Perhaps with the basics: the brilliant Bill Paxton has died, his family has confirmed. He was just 61 years old.

Paxton passed away following complications from surgery. He leaves behind a body of work that’s as broad as it is brilliant. Inevitably, we gravitate towards his roles in Aliens and The Terminator (he was one of the few who could time after time stand the rigours of a James Cameron production, and come out eager for the next), but Paxton’s resume is full of favourites. Twister, Trespass and Big Love, for instance. Plus his character work in the likes of Apollo 13, Tombstone, Predator 2, Near Dark and Edge Of Tomorrow is memorable too. »

Bill Paxton, the veteran actor who starred in Big Love and appeared in films like Aliens, Twister and Apollo 13, died Saturday following complications from surgery. He was 61.

"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery," a representative for the family said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

Actor Bill Paxton has sadly passed away at the age of just 61. Paxton was most famous for his roles in the film AliensThe Terminator, Apollo 13, True Lies, Titanic, and 1996’s Twister. According to various sources, the actor passed away this weekend from complications following surgery.

Tributes have already started to flood in from the Hollywood community.
