Broadly speaking, as a tentpole film inches closer and closer to release, eager fans begin pouring over all the minute details, searching for clues and, frankly, any indication of how the finished product stacks up – you know, before the actual review embargo lifts. One such metric that is so often the topic of conversation ahead of launch is running time, with the underlying assumption being that any movie that clocks in at over two hours and 30 minutes really needs to justify its length.

Potential pacing issues aside, those preconceptions tend to be unfair in the sense that a lengthy running times doesn’t always equate to a better quality experience, or vice versa. Think of how The Wolf of Wall Street manages to keep you locked in for a bum-numbing three hours, and you’ll begin to realize »

‘Westworld’ Recap: At the Rabbit Hole’s Edge

23 October 2016 7:00 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Last week, “Westworld” gave us its first “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” reference. “Alice” is an easy touchstone, but an apt one for this show — a story about an innocent girl wandering through a strange and frightening unreality. There was no live reading from “Alice” this week, but it certainly feels after watching “Dissonance Theory” that we are about to head down the rabbit hole, or about to go through the looking glass, or whatever. Regardless of your favored metaphor, “Westworld” appears to be winding down its world-building stage and gearing up for the business of storytelling.

We open, as always, with Dolores and Bernard. (Eventually the show will stop doing this, but apparently not yet.) Dolores is describing to Bernard the death of her parents, whom she saw murdered again at the end of last week’s episode. When Bernard asks Dolores if she’d like him to take the pain of the experience away, she »

Doctor Strange Star Benedict Wong Has A Role In Avengers: Infinity War

21 October 2016 6:38 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch would be reprising his role as the Sorcerer Supreme in Avengers: Infinity War, something that was long thought to be the case. Now, has confirmed that his Doctor Strange co-star, Benedict Wong, will join him.

Speaking to the outlet in a recent interview, the actor said the following: “I’m thrilled I’m going to be in Infinity War. I’m looking forward to it. I’ll tell you that one first.” He wouldn’t reveal how large of a part he’ll have, but given the massive amount of characters set to feature in the film, we don’t imagine it will be a very big role.

Still, his involvement will definitely make fans happy and leads us to believe that a few other characters from Doctor Strange may appear in Infinity War as well. »

Battlefield 1 is, unsurprisingly, the talk of the town. Dice’s lavish period shooter isn’t set to launch officially until Friday, October 21, but thanks to early access programs and select pre-order perks, players are already duking it out in The Great War as we speak.

Another first-person shooter that’s due to enter the fray in the coming weeks is Titanfall 2, and we now have a new gameplay snippet touting the sequel’s all-new single-player campaign. Drawing attention to the dynamic between Jack Cooper and his Titan, BT-7274, it’s a blistering tease of what’s to come, as the Militia prepares to wage war against the Imc as they gear up to unleash a devastating, Death Star-esque weapon that can obliterate entire planets.

10 Big Questions We Need to See Answered in the Gilmore Girls Reboot

18 October 2016 5:30 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

There's about one month left until the Gilmore Girls reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, airs on Netflix, and the plot speculation seems to get wilder every day. While there have already been a good number of details released about the reboot so far, there's still plenty to theorize about. Fans likely have many questions about what they'll see on Nov. 25, and these are just 10 of the biggest ones. So grab a slice of pizza, make like Rory Gilmore, and keep reading. 1. What's going to happen with Luke and Lorelai? Ah, Luke and Lorelai. They tortured us for so long. The series finale in 2007 left us hopeful that these two would stay together after finally reuniting, but hardcore fans definitely need more reassurance - especially after Lauren Graham's unsettling comments about the couple's future earlier this year. Since the relationship between these two has always been such »

The Young and the Restless Recap: Is Travis Being Groomed as the Next Adam?

15 October 2016 8:00 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

There was a lot going on this week in Genoa City, which culminated in an exciting presentation by the Brash & Sassy executives that revealed their new product and semi-cheesy commercial (Sorry, Cane.).

It wasn't an easy road to the big event, though, because Billy started the week in a jail cell with Travis.

But all's well that ends well, right?

Before we strike out at those stories, let's lead in with what's going on with the Gc Buzz. I have a few thoughts on this whole storyline.

The first is that it's hard to believe we've gone so long without some sort of reporter on Y&R. With all the drama going on in town, it's been missing. However, the idea to take the Buzz on the straight and narrow is just a little unbelievable, especially with Hillary on board.

Do we have to watch every time a new story »

Andy Park Reveals A Comic-Accurate Concept For Zemo From Captain America: Civil War

13 October 2016 5:01 AM, PDT | | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Artist Andy Park has continued to gift fans with concept art from Captain America: Civil War. This time, the artist has given us a look at a far more comic-accurate Baron Helmut Zemo, complete with his purple mask and sword.  Park revealed the piece on his Twitter account, adding, "I painted this Baron Zemo for #CaptainAmericaCivilWar At the end of the day his traditional comic book look didn't make sense for the story." Zemo was played by Daniel Bruhl in the film, though he didn't don a costume of any kind. At the end of the film, the villain is alive and in custody, though he succeeded in his plan to fracture The Avengers. Time will tell if Zemo ever suits up in his traditional costume, though after seeing art like this, it's hard not to wish for it.     »

Luke Owen looks at the casting rumours for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story…

It was reported by Variety this week that Disney and Lucasfilm had begun casting the female lead of the Han Solo anthology movie, set for release on May 25th, 2018. The names included Tessa Thompson (Creed), Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) who, along with the rumoured Donald Glover as young Lando, means there will be two Poc lead characters in the movie. Not only is that a good thing for Disney (a studio that is often attacked for its lack of diversity in its tentpole movies), it also gives us a clue as to who this female lead will be.

Back in April last year, the Marvel Star Wars comic book series introduced us to a new character, Sana Starros, who debuted in Marvel Star Wars #4. Although masked at first, Starros eventually »

The Battle Lines Are Drawn In New Character Posters For Underworld: Blood Wars

5 October 2016 12:37 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The battle lines are drawn in the first wave of bitter-cold character posters for Underworld: Blood Wars, the fantasy sequel in the works from director Anna Foerster.

Welcoming Selene and Co. in from the cold, Movie Pilot was the first to premiere the icy one-sheets, placing Kate Beckinsale’s undead heroine front and center, all the while spotlighting some of the key supporting players lining the ranks of Foerster’s blockbuster. Charles Dance, for instance, returns as the glowering Thomas, a “vampire who betrays Selene by offering her daughter Eve to the Lycans.” There’s also the introduction of his unruly son David (Theo James) and Marius, the newfound leader of the Lycans played by Tobias Menzies, who also has a history on Game of Thrones after portraying Edmure Tully on HBO’s flagship series.

As Movie Pilot notes, these stylish posters emerge on the eve of New York Comic-Con getting underway, »

Blu-Ray Cover For Suicide Squad Extended Cut Revealed Along With How Many Minutes Of Extra Footage We'll Get

5 October 2016 11:18 AM, PDT | | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

The Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice changed that movie in a fairly significant way, but will that also be the case for Suicide Squad? Time will tell, but Warner Bros. has now sent out a press release revealing that the extended edition of the David Ayer helmed release will add an aditional 13 minutes of new content. What that will consist of obviously remains to be seen for now.  The special features and deleted scenes haven't been announced as of yet, but it will be interesting to see if the moment featuring The Joker confronting Task Force X (that could be seen in the trailers) is included anywhere in this set. Either way, more of the Clown Prince of Crime seems inevitable, and that's something which should make Jared Leto feel a little happier after having so many scenes cut.  Also below is the current Blu-ray cover »

Imperial Forces Invade In New Poster For Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

4 October 2016 5:46 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

A new international poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has surfaced today, and it may just be the best one yet. As you can see, it features the Imperial forces flanked by At-ATs advancing as a Rebel’s helmet washes ashore and casts the familiar shadow of the Rebellion’s logo.

It’s a very cool piece of imagery, and one which once again highlights the fact that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will put the focus on the war between the Empire and Rebellion. Well, hopefully. There have after all been some worrying reports that reshoots took place to bring it more in line with The Force Awakens by ditching the darker and violent elements associated with a war movie.

Review: Miss Peregrine’S Home For Peculiar Children is an Eerie Adventure Worth Taking

30 September 2016 9:51 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Imagine if, instead of battling Magneto and his robot army of Sentinels, the X-Men were hunted by Slender Man-esque creatures intent on eating their eyeballs. Throw in some time travel, a little shape-shifting, and Judi Dench wielding a crossbow (in a scene that feels like an homage to Feast), and you have a good idea of what to expect from Tim Burton’s latest film, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Friendless in Florida, teenager Jake (Asa Butterfield) doesn’t fit in with his peers and can’t quite gel with his parents. The only person who truly understands him is his grandfather, Abe (Terence Stamp), who used to tell him stories about how he grew up on a hidden island with uniquely gifted children before leaving to fight monsters (of the non-human variety) in World War II. Jake grew out of those bedtime stories over the years, though, and »

Watch the Trailer For True Memoirs Of An International Assassin

30 September 2016 12:17 AM, PDT | | See recent TheMovieBit news »

With Adam Sandler enjoying great success with his string of Netflix exclusive movies (god only knows how though), it was only a matter of time till so good buddy Kevin James got in on the action, and now we have the first trailer for True Memoirs of an International Assassin, an action comedy with a plot so old school i could have swore I saw this in the 80’s. James plays a mild manner author who is mistaken for a master assassin when his fictional novel about a globe trotting killer-for-hire is published as a true story. When the book is huge success, he is kidnapped and forced into a real life assassination plot. I really try to like Kevin James, and sometime he makes it incredibly easy with the likes of King of Queens and Here Comes the Boom. But other times, he stars in Paul Blart: Mall Cop. »

Few ideas survive the times that spawned them, but Westworld, the 1973 Michael Crichton movie about an Old West amusement park populated by lifelike robots, is good enough that Hollywood's been coming back to it for more than 40 years. Watch The Wall-Crawler Prowl Around NYC In New Spider-Man: Homecoming Set Videos

New York, one of the busiest spots on planet Earth and the city that never sleeps, is currently playing host to Spider-Man: Homecoming. That makes it a little difficult (read: practically impossible) for Marvel and director Jon Watts to keep the 2017 tentpole under wraps, particularly when any given daily schedule would typically involve scores of exterior shots and stunts.

And so, excited fans have been bombarded with numerous videos and photos captured from the set, each offering up some morsels of details regarding the core story underpinning Watts’ hotly-anticipated reboot. Matin Scorsese’s “Silence” has an official 2016 release date

Go figure. Just as I had decided to pull it from my next set of Oscar predictions, the folks at Paramount Pictures finally give a release date to Martin Scorsese’s passion project Silence. Yes, on December 23rd the movie will open in limited release, before going wide the next month in January. It’s a sigh of relief to many cinema fans out there, while it also represents one more huge contender in a still pretty crowded field. That will get culled down when the precursors begin, but for the moment, Silence is back on as a top tier contender for Academy Award attention. The film is an adaptation of the Shûsaku Endô novel of the same name. During the 17th century, a pair of Jesuit priests in Father Sebastião Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield) and Father Francisco Garrpe (Adam Driver) travel to Japan looking for their mentor Father Cristóvão Ferreira (Liam Neeson). It’s the second big company he’s set to work for this year as he’s already been committed to Ring of Honor for their Pay Per View in December, Final Battle. What’s interesting about the Tna gig is that due to WWE holding the legal rights to the Rhodes name in his case, he can only go by Cody. Time will tell if he’s able to show folks he’s capable of stepping up his game to become a main event talent.
