Okay old-school porn

"Street Angels" is directed by Henri Pachard the way Adult Entertainment used to be: a story, interesting characters balanced by explicit sex. It's well-done but suffers from a 1990s problem -the making of 2-part movies in which the material is unbalanced.

So there's lots of recapping of Part 1, sometimes over & over rather than just getting on with the show. And the sex scenes are relatively short, perhaps the cardinal sin in any modern porn movie.

Briefly, this sequel picks up where original "City of Sin" left off, with heroine Jeanna Fine, a prostitute, on the lam, and receiving from gangster Joey Silvera the journal from her brothel that contains all the names of prominent people that would expose them to scandals.

Everybody's out to get the journal from her, while Jeanna is anxious to obtain the many videotapes made at the brothel via hidden cameras which also contain incriminating material.

Main players are Randy Spears as a leading televangelist, who also is heading up a commission on pornography and vice, anxious to get the journal; and a corrupt judge Sean Michaels, who would be exposed by either journal or tapes.

Besides Jeanna, also strong in her sex scenes (including a flashback as dominatrix in the bordello working over Michaels), superstar Ashlyn Gere is powerful as Randy's assistant. Final reel, including a climactic set of reveals concerning Jeanna's true identity is very well directed as Pachard wraps up all the loose ends of the story, but this is clearly no Godfather II, more resembling one of the Matrix sequels in terms of satisfying (or exceeding) expectations.
