Some scenes were deleted from all VHS and DVD versions. These include additional dream and murder sequences along with an introduction of Durkin's girlfriend, who is credited in every version of the film as character of Robin played by actress Roberta Eaton, even though her scene is only in old TV versions of the movie which reportedly included some of the other deleted scenes. In Eaton's deleted scene her character is angry at Durkin because he wasn't home for a long time, so both of them decide to "catch up".
Kim Cattrall still has her hairdo (shaved off sideburns) from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991). This indicates, that the shooting of "Split Second" happened shortly after the completion of ST VI.
Shot in eight weeks.
Preproduction for this film lasted only 21 days.
Stephen Norrington acted as the creature effects designer and FX supervisor.
Despite some decent word of mouth and an exciting ad campaign, Split Second underperformed at the US box office due to the fact that it opened during the weekend of the L.A. riots.
