Gunnar Hansen Has Passed Away

8 November 2015 8:11 AM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

For many people growing up in the 1970s, Gunnar Hansen was horror. His haunting depiction of Leatherface in Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was nightmare fuel for generations, so it is with great sadness that we share the news that Hansen passed away yesterday at the age of 68.

According to Yahoo News, Hansen died of pancreatic cancer. At the time of his passing, Hansen was at his home in Maine. He is survived by his partner, Betty Tower.

Coupled with Hooper's immersive filmmaking, Hansen's towering presence and unflinching dedication to the role of Leatherface helped make The Texas Chain Saw Massacre one of the most highly regarded (and scariest) horror films ever made. Sadly, Hansen's Texas Chain Saw co-star Marilyn Burns passed away last August.

Though he's best known by many as Leatherface, Hansen didn't let the skin mask define him, as he was just as skilled »

Our thoughts go out to Wes Craven's friends and family during this difficult time.

31 July 2015 4:04 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Equally as legendary onscreen as he was in the ring, we're saddened by the news that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has passed away at the age of 61.

According to Variety, Piper died from a heart attack last night at his home in Hollywood. A formidable force in the wrestling ring since the late 1970s, Piper cemented his star status within the horror and sci-fi genres by playing the lead role of Nada in John Carpenter's They Live (1988).

Piper also had memorable roles in Hell Comes to Frogtown, The Outer Limits TV revival series, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies, to name a few. Our thoughts go out to Roddy Piper's family and friends and we'll continue to update this post with comments from those that knew him.

Christopher Lee Has Passed Away, But Will Never Be Forgotten

11 June 2015 8:13 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

It is with much sadness that I share the news of Christopher Lee's passing. According to reports, the legendary actor was recently hospitalized in London for respiratory problems and passed away due to heart failure on Sunday morning. News of his passing only came down today because his wife wanted to wait until family and friends had been notified.

There has never been and will never be another actor like Sir Christopher Lee. Born on May 27, 1922, he started acting in the 40s, but it wasn't until The Curse of Frankenstein in 1957 where his career (and lifelong friendship with Peter Cushing) would really take off.

Christopher Lee has nearly 300 film & TV credits. While it's no surprise that he's best known for his villainous roles, the amazing part of his extensive career is how different generations and types of fans view him. Maybe you were first introduced to Christopher Lee and »
