Near Dark, Kathryn Bigelow's horror/western vampire action film comes to Blu-ray for the first time from Lionsgate on November 10th! Who knew Lionsgate owned it???. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), the film stars Bill Paxton and Adrian Pasdar. In a marketing strategy that could have come out of an arduous PR meeting at some boring office, the film's Blue-Ray release will coincide with that of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Country boy Caleb Colton (Pasdar) whittles away the quiet rural nights hunting local girls. When he falls prey to the mysterious and beautiful Mae (Jenny Wright, The Lawnmower Man), Caleb unknowingly becomes the hunted...

It’s interesting how much money is made that stemmed from jokes. 2006’s Snakes on a Plane generated $62 million dollars in the theater, not to mention merchandising and DVD sales, and the film all started with spoofed Photoshop image. It looks like the next Snakes will be Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, starring his cousin Danny Trejo.
The film started off as a mock trailer (which you can check out after the jump) for Rodriguez and Tarantino’s Grindhouse film back in 2007. There was talk about doing an entire film of spoof trailers, among many other pipe dreams. Rodriguez then mentioned that he wanted to turn the 2-minute trailer into a feature-length film, and here we are.
News just came in yesterday that the film has gotten it’s cast, and it looks to be pretty impressive, given that the film all started with a joke. Now signed on to do »

Back in 1982, Disney's virtual-reality sci-fi adventure Tron seemed like a cutting-edge concept.
It's still way ahead of what can be achieved with real-world digital technology so it's no wonder the movie retains its cult status.
At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, interest in the sequel - now revealed to be called Tron Legacy - looked just as strong.
As I already reported, there was no new footage to show this year (filming on Legacy has only just wrapped) but the preview from last year's Comic-Con was screened again, this time converted into high-definition 3D.
This new HD trailer with its thrilling light-cycle race is now available online and I've included it above. Never have neon motorbikes looked so good...
To put the franchise into context, the original came out two years after Pac-Man was released on the world's arcades and a year after the arrival of Donkey Kong, the game that introduced us to Mario. »

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has acquired the supernatural action screenplay Hellified in a six-figure deal. Andy Burg wrote the script, and the movie is set to be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, whose horror credits include Constantine, Doom, 1408 and the upcoming Dogs from Martyrs writer/director Pascal Laugier.
Details of Hellified’s story aren’t being revealed at the moment, but it reportedly concerns, no surprise, a trip to the hot place. Set to direct the movie is Dan Bradley (pictured), who has handled 2nd-unit and stunt coordination duties on Freddy’S Dead: The Final Nightmare, The Lawnmower Man, The Prophecy, Mimic, the second and third From Dusk Till Dawn flicks and big-ticket pics like the Bourne and Spider-man sequels, and is currently helming the Red Dawn remake for MGM. Burg has a less action-filled résumé; he previously wrote the lighter likes of Trojan War and Alaska before getting into the Internet business, »

You fool! I told you not to click on it! Now you've gone and ruind everything! Cincity2000.com has a big old post containing a ton of spoilers for Tron 2.I have no idea what those spoilers are because there's no way in hell I'm going to ruin anything Tron related for myself. It was my favorite movie as a kid when I saw it in the theater, it was my favorite part of the old People Mover ride at Disneyland, it was one of my favorite 80's video games, and I'm stoked as hell to see the sequel. So I have no clue if anny of this is even true or not.But here's what they do say before they get into the script:a look at an early draft of Tron 2 reveals a script filled with problems and potential. It's a sequel in the Die Hard 2 sense of the term. »
When I first heard of the new film Cthulhu, starring Tori Spelling, I jumped at the chance to review it. That’s right: the mythos of H.P. Lovecraft meets the Peach Pit blossom of 90210. Mismatch aside, I still looked forward to seeing a film dedicated to my number-one favorite Lovecraft character and my 17th favorite early-1990s teen TV star.
Directed by Dan Gildark, Cthulhu first premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival in June 2007, played a few theaters last year and is now hitting DVD from Liberation Entertainment (with only a still gallery and trailer as supplements). Cthulhu tells the story of Russ (Jason Cottle), a gay university professor, who returns home to his small island town for his mother’s funeral and quickly gets absorbed into his family’s weird cult.
Gildark and Grant Cogswell’s screenplay is not really based on any particular Lovecraft story. Though it »
