Set in the distant future in which the Earth is split in two. The southern hemisphere is placed in another dimension while the inhabitants of the northern hemisphere are able to morph into beast-like humanoids. Eventually the humans of the southern hemisphere, led by Uranus, attack the Beasts. The Three Beasts, Wan Derbard (Wan Dabadadatta) of the Tiger Tribe, Bud Mint (Baado Mint) of the Bird Tribe, and Mei Mer (Mei Mah) of the Mermaid Tribe, are taken prisoner along with Mei Mer's companion Tuttle Millen (Mekka Mannen, also of the Mermaid tribe), but manage to escape thanks to a little girl named Yuuni Charm Password. Together they seek Gaia, which they believe to be a fabulous treasure, but they are pursued by Uranus's minions : V-Darn the vicious mage-knight, V-Sion the warrior woman and Akumako, V-Darn's sadistic imp-like partner. K.O. Century Beast Warriors - Wikipedia
Right after KO Century Beast, Satoru Akahori would go on to make Samurai Pizza Cats. Yet another anime involving Mecha and Animal characters. It also had three inept cat characters, just like how KO Century Beast had three stupid heroes. See more »

My friend introduced KO Century Beast I and II a few years ago. It's a great anime with good action and fight scenes, and lots of humor. The character designs and animation has a "kiddy" look to it, but it does go well with this series. The story was about four beasts who were captured when humans attack their homelands and kidnaped them and the villages "Jins". They were Wan for the beast world(transforms into a tiger), Mei Mah(was that her name?)from the mermaid tribe, Bud from the Bird tribe(who uses a lot of English words), and some fat guy(don't remember name) who turned into a turtle. The Jin are protectors of their homelands, but these three are supposed to be the most powerful of all the Jin ever created. While locked in a bubble, a little human girl named Uni was playing with her ball when she saw the beasts, and let them out. It was really her grandfathers doing because he wanted the beasts to escape and take Uni with her; he felt that place was too dangerous for Uni. It's not a bad storyline, nothing great but acceptable. On a scale of 1-10, I would give this about an "8".
