While filming the scene where his character hangs from the side of the train, Jackie Chan was accidentally sideswiped by the helicopter.
Ken Tsang was doubled by director Stanley Tong himself for the helicopter stunt towards the finale. As a result, Tong broke his shin and can be seen sporting crutches and a cast during the film's outtakes/credits.
Michelle Yeoh performed her own motorbike jump stunt.
When Panther meets Chaibat in his mansion, Chaibat is playing Bare Knuckle (1991) (Sega Genesis).

In the American cut of the film, 7 sequences were cut and another 9 were reduced. Also the end song was replace with a version of the song "Kung Fu Fighting" sing by Tom Jones.

The only Police Story film in the original quadrilogy that never received an American release by New Line Cinema. The first two films, as well as First Strike (the fourth film), were all released by New Line, while Supercop's initial release was by Dimension films.

The film inspired two missions in the 2004 game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Both of were taken from the final scenes. The game's last mission, "End of The Line" where CJ must chase a firetruck with a red open-top car and catch Big Smoke was taken from the scene where Jackie must chase a van using a red open-top car to catch Jessica Yang (Michelle Yeoh).
