Superb Mario Camus film of Noir Cinema and melodrama.
13 November 2013 | by See all my reviews

"Después del Sueño", the feature film directed by the brilliant director Mario Camus, was shot in Santander and Madrid. It was portrayed by the cast of the best level as Carmelo Gómez, Antonio Valero, Ana Belen, Fernando Rey, Eulalia Ramón, Judit Masco, Vaclav Vodak and Lluís Homar and tells the story of a young "Amos Carro" (Carmelo Gomez) investigating a secret of his family's past.

"Después del Sueño" was filmed during the months of November and December in the splendid locations around the beautiful bay of Santander and various streets of Madrid.

Camus 's film focuses its argument on the young "Amos" who lives in a city in northern Spain, played by Carmelo Gomez, who, after the return of his uncle (Vaclav Vodak), exiled to Russia after the Civil War, becomes involved in the investigation of a secret that prevents sudden death of elderly reveal. The search for the treasure Sentimental generates a story of love and lust for power, money, betrayal and lies.

In this plot involved Antonio Valero who plays a lawyer upstart and extroverted, Judit Masco, object of desire for the protagonist, Fernando Rey, in the character of the exiled brother, with whom he had a tough ideological discrepancy, and Ana Belén, which assumes the personality of a director unscrupulous magazine. The magnificent performance of all of them is the greatest value of this film that approaches the noir film with some traces of sentimentality .

The title of the work, "Después del Sueño " refers to the repeated dreams of the protagonist "Amos" on that idealized family distant exile to Russia as a result of the war.

With this film, Mario Camus returned to feature films, after the films "La Casa De Bernarda Alba " and "La Rusa" , made in 1987, because after a filmography that exceeds twenty titles, had focused his work on television series like "La Forja De Un Rebelde" and "La Mujer Y El Pelele" , made for TVE.
