Fun Stuff

Trivia:
The film was shot on such a shoestring budget it actually came very close to running out of funds. more
Goofs:
Audio/visual unsynchronized: During the scene shot at Balbriggan County, Dublin, a Northern Ireland Railways GM locomotive 113 passes in the background, with a passenger train. The sound dubbed in is a British Rail HST railcar set, which is quite different. The sound effect is also too short; most of the train passes silently. more
Quotes:
Fergus: Do they know?
Dil: Know what, honey?
Fergus: Know what I didn't know? And don't call me that.
Dil: Can't help it! A girl has her feelings.
Fergus: Thing is, Dil, you're not a girl.
Dil: Details, baby, details.
Fergus: So they do know?
Dil: Alright, they do.
Fergus: Don't. I should've known, shouldn't I?
Dil: Probably.

very good, whether you know the twist or not, 6 March 2004
8/10
Author: Tristram_ZX81 from scarborough, england

I'm one of the unlucky people who watched this knowing what the twist would be. While this denied me the shock factor which seems to have made this a top10 movie for a lot of other cinema-goers, I nevertheless really enjoyed it. Neil Jordan and his excellent cast bring the bizarre relationships between the characters (mainly that of Rea and Whitaker in the first 30 minutes, and Rea and Davidson's in all that follows) to life and really draw you into the story as a result. There was slightly less plot than I thought there would be and the film is surprisingly closer to a romantic drama than a thriller, but this is not a criticism, for as romantic dramas go, it's one of the most original and genuinely heartwarming that you'll see.
