Homeland

The Brody family is being downgraded for the fourth season of Showtime's "Homeland". Morena Baccarin (Jessica) and Morgan Saylor (Dana) will not return as series regulars for the fourth season.

Saylor's Dana character has been a major point of fan anger following poorly received subplots in the second and third season. Baccarin's Jessica character was barely in the third season due to the actress being in her third trimester for much of production. [Source: TV Line]

Teen Wolf

MTV have posted the full length trailer for the upcoming second half of the third season of "Teen Wolf". The show returns in January.

Fortitude

Starz confirms it will not be airing the crime series "Fortitude" which was scheduled to premiere late 2014. The series will now be a fully funded Sky project for Sky Atlantic.

The story is set in the Arctic town of Fortitude, which has never experienced a violent crime until the »

Another classic TV title is getting a prime-time reboot: A new version of The Odd Couple is in the works at CBS co-starring Matthew Perry.

Danny Jacobson (Mad About You) is the writer on the project, which at this point is just a script order with a penalty attached.

There’s no story details yet, with CBS simply saying the project based on Neil Simon’s Broadway classic  about two mismatched roommates — the perfectionist Felix Ungar and lackadaisical Oscar Madison (Perry will play Oscar, which is a bit of a surprise given the fussiness of Perry’s previous sitcom characters »

Hey look, another TV remake! That's hardly news anymore, but the show being remade -- "The Odd Couple" -- and the star attached to it -- Matthew Perry -- make this one a little more intriguing.

Perry will star as Oscar Madison in the new version, which is in development at CBS. He's also co-writing the pilot script with comedy veteran Danny Jacobson ("Mad About You," "Two Guys and a Girl").

"Ever since seeing the movie 'The Odd Couple' when I was 10 years old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison," Perry tells Deadline. "To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face."

Why you should be watching Husbands

Feature Laura Akers 29 Oct 2013 - 07:00

Laura talks us through the many joys of Jane Espenson and Brad Bell's totes adorbs web comedy, Husbands...

A couple of years ago, I was wandering around San Diego Comic-Con when I stumbled across a signing going on at the California Browncoats table. There sat Jane Espenson - writer for wonderful treats like Buffy, Battlestar Galactica, Torchwood, and Once Upon a Time - with two young men. I sidled up to one of the guys and asked what the signing was for. Husbands, he told me, a webseries comedy about marriage equality.

The three of them agreed to an interview (how could I pass up an opportunity to interview Espenson on one of her new projects?) and we talked about their plans for the show they were just about to shoot. Set just after marriage equality becomes law across the entire United States (and thus still, »

The news was a bit of a shock to fans, and Olivia Benson, as Captain Cragen revealed Munch put in his retirement papers after being unable to shake a particularly grisly case.

Belzer has played John Munch on a variety of television shows for the last 20 years. Sean Hayes Talks The Gay Agenda In “Sean Saves The World”

12 September 2013 12:53 PM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

The world may need saving but is Sean Hayes the one to handle the task?

Maybe not, but the point of his new comedy Sean Saves The World is to make us laugh and audiences will be able to find out if the actor, who gained fame with the long-running Will & Grace, has succeeded on October 3rd when the series premieres on NBC.

In the sitcom, out single Dad Sean (Hayes) has newly been given full time custody of his 14-year old daughter, Ellie (Sami Isler) and is doing the best he can to raise her and keep life running smoothly. However, his pushy mother, Lorna, (TV legend Linda Lavin, who we recently talked with about the show) is very present as well as Sean’s Bff, Liz (played by Megan Hilty) along with Sean juggling a busy work life.

But will Sean, the sitcom character, have a dating life? »

Can anyone beat odds-on Emmy favorite Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

31 August 2013 8:56 PM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

Can anyone beat Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Best Comedy Actress at the Primetime Emmys? She plays a blundering vice president on HBO's "Veep" and is the returning champion in the category. The Emmys usually love to honor actors multiple times, particularly in this race, which Candice Bergen won a record five times for "Murphy Brown" in the late 1980s and 1990s, after which Helen Hunt won four in a row for "Mad About You," but if Louis-Dreyfus prevails she will be the first woman since Patricia Heaton ("Everybody Loves Raymond") in 2000 and 2001 to win multiple times for the same role. But despite the recent trend against repeat winners, Louis-Dreyfus will easily prevail if our racetrack odds are any indication. She has overwhelming support, with 12 out of 13 experts, five out of eight editors, 15 out of our top 24 users, and 62% of all users predicting her to take a second consecutive victory lap. -Break- With the odds so stron. »

What if NBC didn't cancel 'Jag' after one season?

This week HitFix is revisiting some of the key turning points in recent entertainment history and considering what would have happened if history had turned a bit differently. What if...? In the spring of 1996, NBC was at the peak of its Must-See TV period. "Seinfeld," "ER," "Friends," "Frasier" and "Law & Order" were  healthy and powerful, and there was a successful secondary tier of shows like "Wings," "Mad About You" and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." The previous fall, the network had launched a new drama called "Jag," starring David James Elliott as a Naval officer and attorney who traveled »

VH1 Signs Eddie Cibrian to a Reality Show and an “Exorcist” TV Series

8 August 2013 4:23 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

News

VH1 has ordered a reality series that would follow Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes. I might be tempted to tune in and hit the fast forward button until I see Cibrian in some sort of state of undress, but I’m not particularly interested in their tabloid drama.

Or maybe there’s an Eddie Cibrian calendar I can buy instead.

Deadline reports that NBC has ordered a comedy pilot from Happy Endings creator David Caspe. Mad About You, Marry Me follows a young newlywed couple who quickly realize marriage is harder than they expected. I’m starting to detect some familiar themes.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Glenn Howerton will appear in a multi-episode arc on The Mindy Project, according to E! Online. There are some minor spoilers in Howerton’s role.

Relationship Comedy From David Caspe, Seth Gordon & Jamie Tarses Lands At NBC With Pilot Production Commitment

7 August 2013 7:28 PM, PDT | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

Exclusive: In what is believed to be the biggest commitment for a comedy project so far this development season, Marry Me, a single-camera half-hour from Happy Endings creator David Caspe, just landed at NBC. The Sony Pictures TV project — which has Seth Gordon, who exited Horrible Bosses 2 today, attached to direct and executive produce and Jamie Tarses to executive produce — sparked a bidding war when it was taken out two weeks ago. It ultimately commanded a pilot production commitment in a deal which I hear also includes a full license fee and series penalty. Last summer, NBC nabbed another Sony TV single-camera comedy project with a big commitment, giving a 22-episode order to The Michael J. Fox Show, one of four new Sony series on the NBC schedule next season along with fall drama The Blacklist, fall comedy Welcome To The Family and midseason drama The Night Shift.Said »

Interview: Jeff Garlin Gives Advice on ‘Dealin’ with Idiots’

11 July 2013 7:11 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Jeff Garlin is what he is. He wants to emphasize that characteristic over any in the formation and development of his many characters – most famously as Jeff Greene on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and The Captain in the animated classic film “Wall-e.” Garlin also co-wrote and directed his latest film, “Dealin’ with Idiots.”

The film is a treatise on kid’s sports, in this case Little League baseball. Garlin portrays Max Morris, a “top twenty” comedian who simply wants his son to have fun playing the game. The other parents, the coaches and the rules conspire against that notion, and the Max character constantly fights against that system throughout the story. The film is off-beat and funny, using the same set-up and techniques as “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” with the actors improvising scenes based on an outline.
