John and Georgie argue about the significance of the bath they had just had together. Senator Smithers organises for John to take Didi on a dinner date. Georgie invites George Hamilton to the date and John becomes a little jealous.

It's the aftermath of John and Georgie's date and they're still fighting. John becomes ill with a fever and ends up in quarantine. The senator and Billy Bob both have a fight with their spouses and sleep over at John's place.

Billy Bob and George are taking Ben and Elliot for a camping weekend, which leaves John and Georgie alone. When Elliot's snake escapes, John and Georgie move in to a hotel. Unfortunately, the neighbours are a newly married couple.

Georgie is exercising some parenting skills on the boys but their different to John's. Elliot knocks out a girl at school and her mother attacks John, but Georgie comes to his rescue. John's ex-wife comes for a visit with her new lover.

George is looking after the boys and John decides to offer him the job permanently. The men in the senator's staff are preparing for a charity talent show. John and Georgie are having trouble getting some time alone.

Georgie decides she wants to be a serious journalist but she has a series of very disappointing interviews. She then decides to have a meeting with an ex boyfriend who is in town, which has John on edge.

The senator's wife threatens to run against the senator in the next election and so the team do their best to stop it. Georgie and Mavis ask Dee Dee to stop seeing the senator, and John has to approach Mary Fran to stop her running.

A reporter is trying to find out about a trip the senator and Dee Dee took together. The finger is pointed at Georgie as being the source of the information. John tries to find out if she is responsible by planting a false story.

Ben and Elliot are spending Christmas with their mother in The Berkshires. John thinks what he has to offer is not good enough and so decides to take them to New York. The whole office staff drive up there in Adam's RV.

John takes Ben and Elliot on a tour of the White House, and it's a memorable visit especially when Elliot steals the president's phone book. John struggles to find a way to return the book without being arrested.

Billy Bob brings around a game of Trivial Pursuit and they play a competitive game. Billy Bob and John are very upset when the Senator's team win, so much so, they go out on an extremely wet night to prove that the last answer was wrong.

Georgie and John are having a disagreement over a press release about the senator's views on a health care bill. There is considerable rivalry as they both write a speech with the senator to choose which one he is happiest to go with.

Georgie fixes up her father on a date with John's baby-sitter but it doesn't go well. He ends going to the presidential inauguration with Dee Dee, which upsets Georgie. Also going is Billy Bob, who needs some dancing lessons.

John has lunch with the attractive manager of a new senator. The woman comes from his home town and Georgie becomes jealous of her and, without thinking, tells John to sow his wild oats. John becomes confused about the situation.

There is a lot of discussion in the office about the comments being made about Hilary Clinton's wardrobe and coiffure. Then the commentators start talking about Georgie's past, which ends up causing problems with John at home.

The Davis' decide to renewing their wedding vows when Adam suggest John and Georgie get married. The senator accidentally burns down his house and they all go away for the weekend. John proposes to Georgie and she accepts.

Reporters follow Dee Dee up to where the office is staying for the weekend. John and Georgie, initially, are having doubts about the wedding. However, they decide to go through with it in front of all their family and friends.

It's the senator's 75th birthday and he is still living in a Winnebago, which is now parked in the Harman's driveway. A scantily clad Dee Dee jumps out of the senator's birthday cake, which gives him plenty of unwanted publicity.

Georgie is having trouble adjusting to married life. She also confesses that she needs to finish the book she's writing so that she has $20 000 to payback a loan. As she is feeling sick, Dee Dee, Billy Bob and John finish the book for her.

It's John and Billy Bob's 25th school reunion coming up but Mavis doesn't want to go. A mix up means that Billy Bob goes with an elderly woman. Georgie wears makeup and makes herself very plain to teach them a lesson about superficiality.

John and Georgie are moving to John's home town to restart the town's newspaper. John has an idealistic view of his home town but things have changed since he was last at home and he is having a lot of trouble adjusting.

Elliot's show and tell goes well until Georgie starts doing a native dance. John, Georgie and Billy Bob bare their soul to Madeline. John is worried that Georgie isn't going to fit in but he finally comes to terms with his new home.

John and Georgie are having trouble getting work until they offered a job in the cafeteria of the local high school serving lunch. Reed offers to fund the newspaper with the money needed but they feel the price might be too high.

The principal sacks John, Georgie and Billy Bob for their work in the school cafeteria being substandard. They are are all depressed and little things cause them to be upset. With reservations, they decide to accept Reed's offer of money.

The newspaper has started and there are other startup issues. Billy Bob is not happy being the social reporter and the employment of a big breasted receptionist has Georgie upset. She insists on employing the printer.

It's John and Markie's first anniversary and they are looking for ways to celebrate. Madeline and Billy Bob are making them a special dinner and John is going to give Georgie a string of pearls that is a family heirloom.

Georgie is feeling down a bit because there are no big stories she can cover. It's Lonnie's birthday and he asks a girl out but she cancels. He decides to ask Vicki instead. They all go out for a night on the town that doesn't go well.

John and Billy Bob are waiting for the kids to return from their mothers for Christmas. Georgie is upset that she won't have any family as her father is stuck in Canada by the weather, but then finds out that she is pregnant.

Billy Bob and Madeline have a bet to lose 10 pounds with a diet. John is refused company health insurance because of a severe health problem. John and Billy Bob have a fight over an old girlfriend, and then Georgie and John have a fight.

John is astonished about how mature Ben is about girls. Billy Bob is hit upon by a woman and he is very happy initially. She is in favour of accelerated dating but she is too aggressive for Billy Bob. He asks Madeline for help.

Madeline's ex husband is getting married and it reminds her of how upset she was with him. So they come up with a way to get back at him. The children do a play satirising what the adults are doing, which makes the them think.

Madeline takes her teenage group on a camp with Georgie and Carson, which doesn't end well. John, Billy Bob and Lonnie volunteer to be the leaders of a new scout troop and also go on a camp, but the boys need constant pampering.

Georgie's pregnancy is progressing but Elliot is not happy about it. Lonnie is in a car accident, hit by cars being driven by Billy Bob and Madeline. As he needs assistance, the Hartmans put him up in a bed set up in the lounge.

John and Billy Bob go to a private men's club called GPDN and Georgie is not happy. They convince Lonnie to go undercover with a recorder to find out about the club, which is an anticlimax when they find out what GPDN stands for.

Rush Limbaugh is coming to town on a book signing tour and Georgie writes an editorial critical of him. Rush rings up Georgie and wants to debate with her on the radio. There is an obvious attraction between them.

The Hartman's have a party with John's Aunt Grace and Billy Bob's mother livening it up but also making it very crowded. When John and Georgie, looking for some privacy, make out in a store dressing room they get arrested.

Madeline is given the opportunity to inspect a time-share resort. She offers to take John, Georgie and Billy Bob for holiday. What John and Billy Bob weren't told is that it is a singles resort and that they will have four other singles with them. They also have to complete a number of activities in order to get their return plane tickets. Things get worse when they do a computer check and find out John and Georgie are married. Unfortunately, it is up to Lonnie to save them.

The baby is being born. Georgie is edgy about giving birth, Billy Bob thinks he is suffering from a flesh-eating bacteria he got when he helps a patient and John is convinced that the baby presented as his has been swapped.

Georgie and John are having trouble resuming marital relations, mainly because there are misunderstandings. Lonnie and his girlfriend are also having troubles, mainly due to his inexperience with women. They give him conflicting advice.

Georgie is organising a surprise birthday party for John, which he doesn't want. When he finds out, John explains why he doesn't want a party, but she throws one for him, with lots of people from his past who succeed in embarrassing him.

John and Georgie are looking after a girls soccer team. Georgie gets riled when the coach of a boys soccer team thinks that girls shouldn't be playing, she makes a bet that her team of girls will beat the boys team.

An old friend of Billy Bob is coming to stay but is disbelieving when Georgie says that he is gay. Billy Bob finds out she was right. Madeline, seeing how happy Georgie is, decides to have a baby using artificial insemination.

An editor from Cosmo has asked Georgie to go undercover in a fat suit to see what it is like to be an obese person. She also wants to use Madeline's experiences as a subject for her story, which she agrees to.

Elliot has started ballet lessons and John is worried about it, thinking it is unmanly. Carson Lee raises a lamb to raise money. She becomes upset when she learns that it is going to be killed for food and wants her dad to buy it back.

The big controversial issue at the local school is whether students should have access to condoms at school. John and Georgie have opposite views. The children have been given the responsibility of looking after their neighbour's rabbit.

It's Christmas time in the Hartman household. Georgie is trying to have a traditional Christmas and she also tries to instil a spirit of giving in the family. However, when things go wrong tempers get frayed and John is injured.

Lonnie becomes the town gossip when his newspaper column, Little Big Mouth, becomes successful. Billy Bob is uncomfortable with the new assistant, especially when he thinks he sees her on Hard Copy and that she is wanted for murder.

John's first wife, Diandra, who left him for their female marriage counsellor, wants to come for a stay. John's not happy with the idea of her visit but Georgie is quite happy. This completely changes when she gets here.

Georgie confides to Madeline that she feels that John is too good and that he is too ready to agree with what she says. Madeline suggests that all the office should have a weekly group therapy session to air any issues that concern them.

John is tired with work and Billy Bob gives him and Georgie a luxury weekend in New York to relax. When they get there, a number of Georgie's friends from her past call in. Lonnie's mother starts subscribing readers to the Beacon.
Georgie is having trouble fitting in with the town and still feels she is an outsider. When she hears that the local council are going to shut the library, she chains herself to the library door until they reopen it.
