Pete involves Goofy in his easy money making scheme at the races. Goofy is the jockey and has to ride a very slow horse, that was chosen by Pete on purpose. Unaware of Pete's wish for a slow horse, ...
Aladdin, the clever hero of Agrabah, continues his adventures with the help of his fiancee Princess Jasmine, his pet monkey Abu, Magic Carpet, Iago the greedy parrot, and of course his best friend the semi-cosmic Genie.
It seems that at the very moment Scooby-Doo hit the TV screens, a lot of ugly depressing trends were all set to go. Amongst them, the fact that every successful show and / or character always had to have a "parent-and-kid" sequel. Let's see: there's "Poopy-Poo and Crappy-Poo", "Captain Lameman and Son" (but no Teen Angels...), Popeye and Son (a prime example of cartoon blasphemy), and probably a lot more I haven't heard of...
... and Goof Troop.
What's wrong with this show ? Jesus ! Where do I start ?
The art ? Perhaps one of the ugliest kinds of animation I have ever seen. The characters have no clear poses or facial expressions, and the frame rate is very awkward. The backgrounds have really crappy colors too. And way too much pink, purple, blue and orange. Ew ! The voices ? Aaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhh !!! They just make my ears bleed. Sometimes you can't even understand what the characters are saying ! The stories ? What stories ? The dialogue ? If you want to hear all the flaws of cartoon-scriptwriting summed in every single episode (lame puns, inappropriate lines for most of the characters), this show is for you. The musical scores ? They sound even worse than the worst musical scores for "Animaniacs" or any post-"Flintstones" Hanna-Barbera show. The sound effects and sound design ? Again, blame it on Scooby-Doo. And last but not least : the staging ? There's no staging at all in here ! All the scenes seem to drag along, and you can feel that they stretched them a lot so they could make every episode last 20 minutes.
I think I don't need to say anything else about it. It's really god-awful.
PS. If, however, you do really want to take a peek, you can watch the following episodes : "Everything's Coming Up Goofy", "Pete's Day At The Races", "Wrecks, Lies and Videotape", "Incredible Bulk", and "Date With Destiny". These ones are still watchable. Also, you can always listen to the french dub. I have to say, the voices are excellent in this one, for a change.
