Megyn Kelly to Interview Kardashians on NBC News Morning Show

22 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Megyn Kelly is starting early on her new NBC morning program.

The new show won’t launch until the fall, but that doesn’t mean work on the new series hasn’t begun in earnest. Kelly visited Los Angeles this week to sit down with the entire Kardashian family for a piece that could run during her new morning show’s first week on air, according to people familiar with the matter. The revelation about the visit suggests the new show is further along than has been previously revealed.

An NBC News spokeswoman declined to comment. It was unclear what producers Kelly may have been working with, and NBC News has yet to announce any staffing for the new series.

Kelly’s new program is slated to air at either 9 a.m. or 10 a.m. NBC has not announced whether her show will be part of “Today,” NBC’s venerable morning-news franchise, or »

Gianni Versace’s Partner Speaks Out About Designer’s 1997 Murder: ‘I Heard the Shot’

25 April 2017 2:15 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

When A-list fashion designer Gianni Versace was shot to death on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion in July 1997, the murder attracted international attention. Authorities soon began a nationwide manhunt for gunman Andrew Cunanan, a serial killer who murdered at least four other people.

Eight days later, police tracked Cunanan to a houseboat in Miami. By the time cops found him, the 27-year-old had fatally shot himself in the right temple.

While the world watched the drama unfold, those close to Versace struggled to make sense of the 50-year-old designer’s shocking death.

NBC Will Launch Megyn Kelly News Series In June

24 April 2017 8:17 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

NBC is expected to launch a new Sunday newsmagazine program anchored by Megyn Kelly in June, according to a person familiar with the situation, a move that begins to firm up the former Fox News star’s role with her new employer.

The new program is expected to feature Kelly as the lead of an ensemble of reporters, and will be supervised by two veteran NBC News producers who also lead the network’s venerable “Dateline.” David Corvo and Liz Cole have been the team overseeing that popular newsmagazine since 2011. Kate Snow, who anchors NBC’s Sunday-night broadcast of “NBC Nightly News” and who recently stepped down from anchoring an hour at MSNBC,  is expected to contribute to the new program.

NBC News declined to make executives available to comment. Page Six previously reported details of Kelly’s new program.

Kelly was formally freed from her contract with Fox News Channel earlier this month, accelerating »

Film Review: ‘Phoenix Forgotten’

21 April 2017 1:59 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

After 40 or so minutes of teasing hints that its makers may have hit upon a fresh approach to found-footage thrillers, “Phoenix Forgotten” indicates the genre may be having its last gasp on life support as the movie devolves into yet another threadbare patchwork of mounting hysteria, faux cinéma vérité, and shaky-cam visual clichés.

Things begin promisingly — or at least not off-puttingly — as Sophie (Florence Hartigan) sets out to make an investigative documentary about Josh (Luke Spencer Roberts), her older brother, and his buddies Ashley (Chelsea Lopez) and Mark (Justin Mattews), who disappeared 20 years earlier while making their own film about UFO sightings. The real-life inspiration for this fiction: On March 13, 1997, hundreds of witnesses reported glimpsing signs of extraterrestrial aircraft in the nighttime sky around Phoenix, Ariz., a phenomenon that came to be known as the “Phoenix Lights.” In the world according to “Phoenix Forgotten,” Josh and his friends trekked into »

How Bill O’Reilly Fallout Stacks Up Against Previous TV-News Scandals

4 April 2017 6:18 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Following revelations of multiple sexual-harassment charges against host Bill O’Reilly, Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” is shedding advertisers. By Tuesday evening, major advertisers including Mercedes-Benz USA, Hyundai, BMW North America, Allstate, and T. Rowe Price had pulled their ads from the show.

The exodus of advertisers from cable’s most watched news program was a stunning response to a New York Times report that five women had received payments totaling around $13 million to settle allegations of harassment by O’Reilly. However, it remained unknown whether O’Reilly had been disciplined by the network. Some of the advertisers reallocated inventory to other Fox News programming, while others were non-committal about whether they would keep the ads with the channel.

O’Reilly is not the the first TV newsperson to be embroiled in scandal — but he is the most prominent since NBC’s Brian Williams. The former “NBC Nightly News” anchor was initially suspended from his role »

Why ‘Dateline NBC’ Ep Liz Cole Doesn’t Need Oj or JonBenet to Succeed… But They Help

Dateline NBC” executive producer Liz Cole has been working on the show in some capacity since 1993, well before Nicole Brown Simpson and JonBenet Ramsey were murdered. As the show approaches its 25th anniversary on Friday night, she understands that certain true-crime mysteries continue to resonate with viewers decades after they occur. With the exception of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, “Dateline NBC” has devoted more minutes to the O.J. Simpson case than any other in the 25-year history of the series. The murder of JonBenet comes in second and both cases were recently revisited because of their 20-year anniversaries. In fact, »

Dax Shepard is taking all sorts of steps to secure his future (if he makes it there). After the CHiPs actor got bumped from the Wednesday spot on Late Night With Seth Meyers in favor of a much bigger star (his wife, Kristen Bell), the actress used her time on the show to talk about the couple's interesting dynamic. While chatting with Seth about her recent interview with Dateline's Keith Morrison, Kristen revealed that she actually really needed to talk to him because of something suspicious Dax did on her phone. "My husband googled from my phone, as a prank, 'How do I get away with murdering my husband?'" Seth then asked, "What's the prank though?" to which she responded, "That I'm on some watch list I guess." She then said she asked Keith how much trouble she might be in, and he broke the news to her: "quite a bit. »

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard Are Feuding With Each Other Through Ellen DeGeneres

Just three days after Dax Shepard stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about the current battle he's having with his wife, Kristen Bell, the actress decided to make an appearance of her own to set the record straight. After Dax explained to the host on Tuesday that the two are in a heated argument over the placement of his beloved La-Z-Boy chair in their living room, Kristen shut him down when she tried to get Ellen to see it from her side on Friday. "I sit right behind him and I feel like I'm in an actual movie theater in my living room," she said. "I feel like I have to shimmy next to him like, 'Excuse me, sorry, I just have to go to the bathroom.'" She also touched on her recent interview with Dateline's Keith Morrison and the massive crush she has on him. »

It’s all-out war in the Bell-Shepard household! Ever since Dax Shepard moved his giant La-Z-Boy chair into the middle of the couple’s living room, his wife, Kristen Bell, has not been able to let it go.

The pair had it out on Instagram in late February, and Bell also brought it up during Thursday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Though Bell took some responsibility, she also put some of the blame on DeGeneres herself.

“But also this is kind of your fault – and he pointed that out – because I actually maybe would have gone for it had I not »

Police say he was driven by a years-long revenge plot after he was fired from Nebraska’s Creighton University in 2001 and was dogged by bad references from his former supervisors.
