Storyline

Three soldiers are ordered to change their gender (via a pill) and are sent on a secret mission (undercover as show girls) to the women only planet of Clitoris' capital city "Vegas in Space." Once they arrive, they must maneuver through complex politics and decadent parties, to uncover a plot to disrupt the most important pleasure planet in the Universe. Oh yeah, everyone except two of the "men" who become "women" is played by a drag queen, at least one is a dual role! Written by Matthew Carlin <matt_carlin@excite.com>

Trivia

Producers intended to use the medley from the cast's nightclub show for the big musical number near the end of the film. The medley included brief passages from many well-known show tunes. Due to Doris Fish's death and the high cost of the rights to even fragments of those songs, the scene had to be post-dubbed, with a different song and alternate singers. See more »

Has a tendency to drag a bit
22 January 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I watched this movie because, if I recall correctly, it was on a worst 100 movies list somewhere. It was my hope that it would be soooo bad, it would be good. As it turned out, I almost couldn't get through it.

I've enjoyed other movies with drag queens (eg. Priscilla), and was hoping that the campiness alone would be the redeeming quality of Vegas In Space. As it turns out, the story about the making of the movie, which is both a triumph and a tragedy, is what is interesting.

In that respect, I am pleased that Doris and crew finished their apartment-made movie. It did provide a few laughs. I especially liked the 'set' where they landed their space ship. That, and the fact that I was able to endure the whole thing gives it 2/10.
