- "Resident Alien," a science fiction-comedy feature film from Granite Productions, Ltd., is the story of a UFO crash that changes the lives of two down-on-their-luck people in a small Midwestern town.
Cal Gilbert (PATRICK COYLE), a former Ph.D. candidate in astrophysics, now runs a motel as a low-rent apartment building. He spends his evenings on the roof, scanning the night skies for a discovery that will re-establish his credibility within the scientific community.
His only tenant, Leslie Winter (NESBA CRENSHAW) is newly divorced, out of work, and at the end of her rope. Her dreams of world travel have gotten her out of Fargo, North Dakota and dumped her -- without hope or cash -- in Stillwater, Minnesota.
One night, after Leslie has climbed up on the roof to harangue Cal about her apartment's plumbing problems, they both witness -- and are nearly incinerated by -- a crashing UFO.
With this too-close encounter, Cal and Leslie embark on a journey of mystery and adventure, during which they become entangled with an enigmatic, but friendly, stranger (MARK PATRICK GLEASON); a wily, small-town sheriff (JOHN MUNGER); an unscrupulous UFO investigator (RICHARD GIBBONS); an Air Force cover-up; and an eye-opening rendezvous on a dark country road.
"Resident Alien" mixes comedy, science fiction and romance to create a memorable story about the dangers and complications that occur when you wish on a star -- and your dreams come true.
