Storyline

As soon as they meet Ari and Sam get into a pretty passionate - and combustible - relationship. Indeed, the scenes of their rendezvous often seem reminiscent of the Chicago Fire. But the course of true flaming lust never runs true, and as they try to handle their all-consuming passion their two best friends endlessly meet to compare notes on developments. Quotes

Ari: When I was in like, 5th grade, the miniseries "Roots" was this big thing. So, our teacher had us make family trees. Which is possible if any of them married poorly. Now Liam on the other hand, if there's a good Monty Python rerun on, or if he's had enough Guinness, will confess to a lineage of pirates. Dashing, ...

Oddly appealing
28 April 2001 | by See all my reviews

Pyrates is the kind of movie that would never be considered for an award. But it is not as bad as I expected. The concept is unusual, and the humor warped enough to keep you entertained. Yes, there are some slow spots but there are some extremely funny routines as well and overall it is oddly appealing. Definitely worth a check at the rental video shop.
