The suspended monorail depicted in the film is the Wuppertal Suspension Railway, in Wuppertal, Germany. Built around 1900, it is still in use and is a major civic attraction. This same monorail has also been prominently featured in the films Alice in the Cities (1974) and The Princess and the Warrior (2000).
This film is composed entirely of film footage that has been preserved by the Nederlands Filmmuseum, Amsterdam.
The film material sourced for this project was originally part of the collection of Dutch cinema operator and entrepreneur Jean Desmet (1875-1956). The Desmet collection includes over 900 films from the United States, Italy, France, Germany and other non-native places, as well as related documents and publicity items (posters, stills and so on). This cashe of films and documents formed the basis of the original collection of the Nederlands Filmmuseum, now the EYE Filmmuseum.
