Character Actor Menning Dies

Character actor Sam Menning has lost his battle with emphysema, aged 85.

Menning died in Los Angeles on 29 March.

He was perhaps best known for playing drunk and homeless men, and was most recently featured on hit TV comedy series My Name Is Earl last year.

He has also been featured on U.S. TV series Yes, Dear, ER, Scrubs, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Gilmore Girls and Profiler.

Menning's film credits include The Butcher's Wife, Dutch and Life Stinks.

He is survived by his companion of 48 years, Karina Von Wattidel, as well as a daughter, a brother and four grandchildren.
