Humorous and touching look at a mixed-up family, especially the 53 year old mother to be!, 15 August 2006
6/10
Author: Amy Adler from Toledo, Ohio

Margaret and John have just come back from their wonderful honeymoon. In their early fifties, Margaret finally has a loving husband in John. The first husband, it seems, left her in the lurch with four children. However, placid is not what their life is going to be together. This is, in part, because Margaret's children's lives are in flux. One daughter is unmarried, jobless and pregnant, another daughter has two divorces under her belt and doesn't trust men. The sons, too, are mixed-up, with one moving back home with his two daughters and the other one returning to mother's house, too, when he loses his ritzy job. If that is not enough, Margaret finds out soon that her indigestion is really pregnancy! John is so spooked by everything that he moves out. Will happiness elude this family, especially the mother who loves her children, even the little one inside her? This is a feel-good family story, where each member endures and rises above personal problems. McClanahan is so beautiful, inwardly and outwardly, as the mother who tries her best to keep her folks happy and harmonious. The supporting players are all quite engaging and attractive, too. All of the other elements, from setting to costumes and more, are fine. Although it may not be the most incisive look at a woman who finds herself pregnant in middle age, it has its moments, also. Everyone who loves stories which deal with the ups and downs of everyday family life and who like romance, tears, and happy endings, will find this film as welcome as sunshine.
