Storyline

Some time after the Mousekewitz's have settled in America, they find that they are still having problems with the threat of cats. That makes them eager to try another home out in the west, where they are promised that mice and cats live in peace. Unfortunately, the one making this claim is an oily con artist named Cat R. Waul who is intent on his own sinister plan. Unaware of this, the Mousekewitz's begin their journey west, while their true cat friend, Tiger, follows intent on following his girlfriend gone in the same direction. Trivia

Owing to creative differences, Don Bluth parted ways with Steven Spielberg, with whom he had directed the original An American Tail (1986), as well as the first of 13 Land Before Time films. With no Bluth in sight for the sequel, Spielberg instead relied on Phil Nibbelink, a former Disney animator, and Simon Wells, the grandson of science-fiction author H.G. Wells, to direct the project. Goofs

When the mice are sitting in the audience/mouse trap, Tanya begins singing "The Star Spangled Banner". The movie takes place circa 1885, and although the words to the song were written in 1814 by Francis Scott Key, the song was only used by the Navy in 1889, and didn't officially become the national anthem, and thereby most likely to be sung at public events, until 1931. Quotes

Cat R. Waul: I have mentioned that I dislike being referred to as Pussy Poos.
Miss Kitty: Yeah? Well maybe I'm not so happy about being dumped in nature's ashtray 500 miles from a pastrami sandwich, either! Pussy Poos!
