Nude male vagrants are briefly shown showering at a shelter. There's a brief scene of Michele bathing under a bridge - full frontal nudity. There's a silhouette of Michele and Alex running nude along the beach at sunset. Alex has an erection [this is a fake penis] while running and Michele touches the erection while they are running. Michele and Alex are shown lying nude on the beach while spooning - Michele's breasts are shown. Alex is shown getting a physical examination while in prison. During most of the examination he's just wearing brief underwear, but then he turns around and pulls them down for the examiner to check his bare butt. Michele and Alex character embrace and kiss in different parts of the film. L'ami clochard undresses Michele in an art museum after operating hours then proceeds to embrace and kiss her. No nudity is shown.

Alex rubs his head against the street pavement. While Alex is passed out in the middle of the street, a car graphically runs over his ankle and foot and breaks it. Some vagrants fight each other in a shelter. Michele shoots Julien in the eye through the peep hole with a hand gun Alex character strikes Binoche's character in the face. Binoche's character hits Alex back a number of times. Alex head butts a dozing man and knocks him unconscious in order to steal his boat. Fireworks are seen skimming by and around Alex and Michele while they are on the bridge. Both Alex and Michele fire several rounds of bullets from a hand gun. L'ami clochard knocks a bottle of alcohol out of Michele's hands while she's drinking it. Alex cuts his torso with a broken bottle. He throws a bottle at Michele's cat. L'ami clochard falls into the water and apparently drowns himself Alex graphically shoots his finger off using Michele's hand gun Alex sets a number of posters of Michele on fire and tears one up. He also sets the car on fire of someone posting up Michele's posters. The owner of the car graphically catches on fire when his car explodes and he burns to death while running around in flames. Alex is beaten with telephone books by the police while he is handcuffed. Alex grabs Michele on the bridge and they both fall into the river.

A dozen or so curses are uttered during the film.

Michele and Alex drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. A number of Julien's extinguished cigarettes are shown and he's shown extinguishing a cigarette. Alex and a number of characters drink liquid downers then fall asleep. L'ami clochard drinks what appears to be alcohol with Alex.
