Keira Knightley Presumed ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Would Be a ‘Disaster,’ ‘Love Actually’ Director Says

As Richard Curtis prepares to launch the upcoming quasi-sequel to his 2003 hit “Love Actually,” he took a moment to reflect on the triumphant careers of the film’s cast.

In an op-ed written for The Radio Times, the “Love Actually” writer-director said it has been a “particular delight” for him to see how “brilliantly” the cast has blossomed over the years. He went on to recall a, retrospectively, comical comment from star Keira Knightley: She said her next project was “some pirate thing – probably a disaster,” of course referring to the hugely successful “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise that eventually catapulted the actress’ career.

In an op-ed posted to Radio Times, Richard Curtis, the romantic comedy’s writer-director, reflected on where his stars were in their careers when the film debuted in 2003. “When we shot the film, I remember Keira Knightley saying that her next project was ‘some pirate thing — probably a disaster,’ ” he revealed.

Of course, that project turned out to be the wildly popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that made her an international superstar. »

‘All I Want For Christmas’ Gets Animated

22 March 2017 2:00 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

It is said that if a Christmas goes by without every human (no matter what their religion) hearing and singing along to Mariah Carey‘s festive classic, All I Want For Christmas, then the world will end. Thankfully that’s never happened, and was made even less likely by the wonderfully uplifting cover featured in Love Actually. Now, just in case there are those younglings who haven’t quite taken up the tradition, the song is set to inspire its own CGI animated feature from Universal.

With Carey on board as an executive producer, and the plot focusing on a young girl who desires her own puppy, you can look for it this holiday season on DVD from Universal 1440 Entertainment. Being familiar with the lyrics, they may just need to change a few ‘baby’s to ‘puppy’s.

Production is now underway on Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You, »
